Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Denzel Robinson Sr. . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Denzel, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
During COVID, dealing with the lockdown, I was unable to socialize with my peers. It allowed me to be at home and focus on my wife, my son and most importantly myself. I was not able to hide behind the walls I built to hide my true self. To deal with the state of depression I found myself in, I found meditation. And through meditation and isolation, I was able to strengthen my spirituality and find what my true life purpose was. And that purpose is ultimately to serve my family and my community by leading this next generation through entrepreneurship.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am currently a full time Traffic Engineer with an engineering firm ARCADIS. I have been with this company for 10yrs servicing the Atlanta Metro Area and now District 2 of SE Georgia. I am also the CEO/Owner of Strength of A Robinson, LLC (S.O.A.R.) & Fresh StartZ Shop and Salon on Laney Walker Blvd in Augusta, Ga. S.O.A.R. owns the commercial property that houses its clothing line, embroidery/DTF printing shop and Fresh StartZ Shop and Salon.
We have partnered with Augusta Art Counsel, Laney Museum and Augusta Housing and Development to place a Mural to preserve some of Augusta’s black history through art. The mural is expected to be completed March of 2024.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I’m humble, detailed-oriented and always positive. Being humble will allow you to keep your ego in check to constantly being willing to learn. Learning daily is how you sharpen yourself as an entrepreneur. Paying attention to the details requires a balance between being a perfectionist and time management. Both of those traits allow you improve your processes and procedures. And lastly being positive! Positivity is how you not only keep yourself motivated but it has the power to motivate those around you. And having a strong team that believes in you creates a positive work environment.
