Meet Denzel Starks

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Denzel Starks a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Denzel, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
For me, creativity is like a roaring flame—it needs fuel to keep burning. I stay inspired by immersing myself in experiences outside my comfort zone. I travel, I explore different forms of art, and I even pull inspiration from the smallest details, like the way Memphis moves on a Saturday night. I also make space to disconnect; sometimes, the loudest ideas come in the quietest moments. Creativity thrives when you feed it with curiosity, so I’m always learning, always evolving. And most importantly, I listen—whether it’s my clients’ visions or the whispers of my own intuition. Lionz Den has always been about boldness, and that boldness comes from staying true to a mindset of endless exploration.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Lionz Den is more than just a brand; it’s a creative sanctuary where bold ideas are brought to life. We specialize in graphic design, branding, and all things visual storytelling. What sets us apart is our fearless approach—we don’t just create for our clients, we roar with them. I believe in crafting designs that are unapologetic, memorable, and resonate on a deeper level.

What excites me most about what I do is the transformation. Watching an idea go from a rough sketch to a polished masterpiece that empowers a business or individual is an unmatched feeling. Lionz Den thrives on the stories of our clients, and being part of their journey is truly special.

As for what’s new—I’m thrilled to announce the launch of my podcast, We Gone Need Some More Jack, coming Summer 2025! It’s going to be a mix of real talk, creative inspiration, and relatable moments for entrepreneurs, dreamers, and those trying to balance life while chasing greatness. Think of it as conversations with a splash of grit, humor, and maybe a little whiskey.

Lionz Den is always evolving, and 2025 will be no different. From new branding workshops to fresh collaborations, we’re turning the volume all the way up. Stay tuned, because this lion’s roar is only getting louder!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
When I reflect on my journey, three things stand out: adaptability, authenticity, and the ability to connect.

First, adaptability. The creative world—and business in general—is always changing. Trends come and go, technology evolves, and clients’ needs shift. Being able to pivot without losing your vision is a superpower. For those starting out, I’d say: stay curious and always be willing to learn. Whether it’s new design software, marketing strategies, or industry shifts, keep yourself open to growth.

Second, authenticity. I’ve learned that staying true to who you are and what your brand represents resonates more than trying to fit into someone else’s mold. People are drawn to realness. My advice? Don’t try to compete with anyone else’s voice—find your own and amplify it. The right people will connect with your authenticity.

Finally, the ability to connect. Whether it’s understanding your clients’ needs, building a network, or telling a story through your work, connection is key. This is something you can develop by listening more than you talk, asking questions, and truly caring about the people you serve. Relationships and trust will take you further than anything else.

For anyone just starting out, I’d also add: don’t be afraid of the messy middle. That’s where the magic happens. Stay consistent, invest in yourself, and don’t forget to celebrate the wins—big or small. Every step of the journey matters.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client is someone who is bold, passionate, and ready to take their brand to the next level. They have a clear vision of their goals, even if they’re not entirely sure how to bring it to life—that’s where I come in. The perfect client understands the value of creativity and trusts the process, knowing that collaboration is key to creating something truly remarkable.

I thrive when working with individuals or businesses that aren’t afraid to push boundaries and explore fresh ideas. Whether they’re launching their first venture or rebranding after years of success, my ideal client comes with energy, a willingness to communicate openly, and a desire to create something unforgettable.

Ultimately, I’m drawn to people who see their brand as more than just a business—it’s their story, their passion, and their roar. If you come to Lionz Den ready to be bold and unapologetic about your vision, we’re going to make magic together.
