Meet Deora Clairé

We were lucky to catch up with Deora Clairé recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Deora Clairé, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

My purpose wasn’t found; it was cultivated. When I was a teen I discovered my favorite Bible verse, Matthew 5:16 NIV which says, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” This verse was like a seed of purpose planted inside me, and all I wanted to do was be a good person by doing good deeds so that God would be glorified. However, at that young age, I didn’t really understand how I would do it.

It wasn’t until about 5 years ago that the seed of purpose began to grow into the meaningful mission I have today:

To encourage people, especially women, who are struggling with mental health challenges and the effects of them to have hope for their healing—so they won’t give up, faith to grow from their experiences—so they get past limiting beliefs, and confidence to thrive in their lives—knowing that their struggles do not disqualify them from their God-given purpose.

My mission stemmed from my own struggles with mental health. In 2019, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I’ve been hospitalized twice for two separate manic episodes, and after each episode I experienced depression. So I understand the feeling of hopelessness, doubting your faith, and believing you can’t fulfill your purpose. That’s why I wrote my book titled “Broken to Blossom: How My Mental Health Journey Cultivated My God-Given Purpose”.

I’ve learned that by sharing my testimony, offering words of encouragement, and being a kind human being is how I uphold Matthew 5:16.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am Deora Clairé, an Author, Christian Bilingual Singer-Songwriter, and Speaker from Memphis, TN. My passion is to use my God-given gifts to inspire healing, faith, and transformation. With a heart to encourage others, I believe this calling is what makes my ministry unique.

As a published author, I wrote Broken to Blossom: How My Mental Health Journey Cultivated My God-Given Purpose and coauthored the anthology Shattered by One’s Touch and We Overcame. I have also created several devotionals on the YouVersion Bible App that encourage believers in their faith and mental health journeys.

On the music side, I have released an EP, two albums, and a growing collection of singles in both English and Spanish. My lyrics—rooted in my personal journey, including overcoming mental health challenges—carry messages of hope, resilience, and victory.

Through both words and music, I am committed to uplifting others and shining the light of Christ to women and communities around the world. I am especially excited about my upcoming projects, including new devotionals, speaking opportunities, and community impact initiatives.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are faith, perseverance, and hope. These qualities were crucial because my faith in God’s almighty power to restore my mental health and prosper me, helped me to persevere throughout the tough times and have hope that better days were ahead. Therefore, my advice to people who are early in their journey is to not give up. Remember Galatians 6:9 NIV which says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Yes, I would love to partner or collaborate with people and organizations who are faith-based and/or have a mental health focus. If you are reading this or you know someone that may be interested in a partnership or collaboration, please connect with me via email [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you!
