Meet Derek Alford

We were lucky to catch up with Derek Alford recently and have shared our conversation below.

Derek, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

some people take years before they feel like they have found their purpose. I think your purpose is more then just what you like doing when you feel like doing it or when you feel motivated to do it. you know when you have found your purpose because everything you do revolves around it, you wake up and go to sleep thinking about your purpose. me personally I kept running away from what I felt like was my purpose and always found myself coming back to it in some way. that’s how I knew what my purpose was and that was to impact people and spread the message positively, music allows me to do that freely

From an early age,NyceBarzz exhibited a passion for music that transcended genres. His influences, rooted in the storytelling and raw authenticity of 90’s hip-hop, inform his lyrical content and delivery. With a knack for weaving intricate narratives and infectious hooks, NyceBarzz captures the listener’s attention, inviting them into a world filled with relatable experiences, struggle and triumph.
In pursuit of excellence, NyceBarzz has embarked on several current projects that showcase versatility and commitment to his craft. Each release is a testament to his growth as an artist and a reflection of his dedication to pushing boundaries within the genre. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

looking back at things I could say you definitely need confidence, discipline and just pure dedication to your vision. everyone isn’t going to see the vision and sometimes it can be discouraging but you have to keep going.
and don’t worry about what others may think when it comes down to your creativity.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

one of my favorite books that helped me develop as a character is “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz.
this book has changed my life drastically, from the way I approach and respond to situations etc. it gives you a different outlook so that you can navigate life peacefully and with no regrets. key nuggets of wisdom it gives are mantras like Always do your best or Do no take anything personally.
