Hi Derek , great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.

I developed this ability by rebuilding my confidence in high school after My Dad (Ralph Sanders) Kept trying to put my confidence down physically & verbally…It started to give me the push to take risks because “I wanted to get away from the hurt.” In Life if Your not willing to take risks because of Your situation/Dreams & Goals You won’t ever Thrive in Life.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m Derek Lott, Fashion Designer, Entrepreneur, Poet, Podcast Host, Tv Producer. I have a Clothing Brand “Dreams Of Rulers Street Fashion,” WebSeries, “Drip Talk” & “Unpackaged.” We also Have Our podcasts, “A Lott Of Fashion” & “Smoke Sessions.” I’m primarily known for My clothes & my appearance on social media for helping people grow in business & fashion. Dreams Of Rulers is working with 3 different brands to start doing events in major cities (first stop: Los Angeles Oct. 11th.”

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Most impactful part of My journey was early on before I started the brand, when I would go to the Library in Stone Mountain. Would Walk everyday & spend at least an hour researching the Fashion industry/business, different parts of business & more just learning the craft. I eventually started sitting down before I would leave each day with a Black Scientist at a local college & he would give me advice & the one that stuck to me most was, “don’t take advice from people who don’t understand your journey or have not experienced/succeeded at Your Journey.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

We are looking for Brands to Collaborate with. Our Owner, Derek Lott, is focused on connecting with Up & Coming Artists that Hunger for Success & people & brands that move with moral code & principles so We can find new ways to help people reach their full potential‼️
