We were lucky to catch up with Deshawn Newby recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Deshawn with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I got my work ethic from Kobe Bryant. He has been such an inspiration in my life. How he carried himself in the NBA, with his ability to block out the noise and lock in has always inspired me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Filming has always been fun to me and it allows me to be free and creative in what I envision becoming real life. I am currently filming and directing a movie called “Degrees.” I am very excited about this project as this project is the first of many.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The 3 very impactful qualities, were leadership, discipline, and dedication. My advice is that whatever you want in life, go for it. Chase your dreams and stay locked in while chasing your dreams.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
Staying motivated and disciplined in achieving each goal that I set for myself. Having a killer mentality of wanting to be the best version of myself.
