We were lucky to catch up with Desinique Robinson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Desinique, so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
For me, self-care looks like more than just face masks and everything showers (even though I LOVE those), it’s the practices that keep me grounded, energized, and able to show up fully for myself and others. I do a few things such as moving my body daily. Moving my body keeps me feeling good about myself and it also clears any mental fog. Journaling is also a MAJOR part in my self care routine. When I don’t journal, it feels like my brain is running a million miles per minute! And lastly, REST! The most productive thing you can do is NOTHING! There are days where I plan to do absolutely nothing.
The impact is pretty simple! I am able to show up for myself and others!

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m Desinique, and I create lifestyle and beauty content that feels like your big sis is talking to you. My brand is all about girl talk, glow-up tips, fashion, beauty, and those soft life reminders that make women feel seen and supported. What excites me most about what I do is the community, it’s not just content, it’s a sisterhood. I love when women tell me they feel like I’m the big sister they never had, because that’s exactly the space I want to create online.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding that energy beyond just social media. I’ve been working with beauty and lifestyle brands, but my bigger vision includes launching more intentional projects like girl trips, live events, and even media productions that center women and our everyday experiences. I want my brand to feel fun, relatable, and empowering, but also impactful enough to spark real-life connection.
At the end of the day, I’m not just building a platform, I’m building a safe space, and that’s what makes my work so special to me

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three qualities that impacted my journey most were consistency, authenticity, and adaptability. Consistency taught me patience and built trust with my audience. Authenticity helped me stand out once I leaned fully into my own voice and style. And adaptability allowed me to grow as the social space kept changing. For anyone early in their journey, my advice is simple: show up regularly, be yourself unapologetically, and stay open to learning as you go.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, the first thing I do is pause and figure out whats causing this feeling. I then write everything down and list them 1 through whatever number and focus on #1 and make my way down the list versus focusing on everything at once.
