We were lucky to catch up with DESIREE KING recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi DESIREE, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding my purpose was a journey of self-discovery. I explored my passions at an early age, learned from my experiences through my teenage and adult years, and listening to my intuition and the voice of God through trials and tribulations.
It wasn’t a single moment but a series of steps that led me to where I am today, and believe it or not, I’m still evolving on this path.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I was born and raised in Goldsboro, North Carolina. I am a wife, and the mother of 4 awesome children and a grandson who have all inspired me to live my full potential. I am grateful for all life lessons, and the way God has ordered my steps. I am a change-agent, leader, and a servant to the people.
I holds a BS in Psychology from Fayetteville State University. I also holds two Masters of Science Degrees in Human Services (specialization in Social and Community Services), and Psychology with a few ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) courses. I obtained my Life Coaching Certification from Life Coach Training Institute in January of 2020. My background as a Former Educator, Developmental and Mental Health worker, Case Manager for Special Education, and Care Coordinator for I/DD has afforded her the opportunity to work with & serve persons from all walks of life. With all of that I took what I learned and increased my knowledge by seizing every opportunity to achieve high levels of success in her personal, spiritual & professional life.
I am part of:
(The National Society of Leadership and Success Certification)
(The International Honor Society of Psychology)
I have always had a passion for helping others from a very young age, and it has shown through her personal & career choices.
For me you coaching is not simply my profession, it is my life’s purpose; being able to EMPOWER, UPLIFT, and SUPPORT others is one of my greatest accomplishments.
I am the CEO/Founder of Ashnah Transformational Coaching Services LLC. We offer individual, couples, youth, and family structure life coaching services. We also have journals and note books created by yours truly.
I am currently working on a book. It is in the editorial stages right now. The book is about teenage trauma and how generational trauma that is often passed down.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Certainly, when I reflect on my journey, I believe that adaptability, resilience, and continuous learning have been the most impactful qualities and skills.
Adaptability: In a rapidly changing world, the ability to adapt to new situations, technologies, and environments is invaluable. My advice to those starting their journey is to embrace change as an opportunity for growth. Seek out diverse experiences, be open to feedback, and be willing to pivot when necessary. Adaptability is a muscle that strengthens with practice.
Resilience: Challenges are an inevitable part of any journey. Resilience, the ability to bounce back from setbacks, is crucial. My advice is to develop a growth mindset. View failures as opportunities to learn and grow. Surround yourself with a supportive network, and remember that setbacks are temporary. Perseverance often leads to success.
Continuous Learning:
Lifelong learning is a cornerstone of personal and professional development. Stay curious and committed to expanding your knowledge and skills. Seek out mentors, take courses, read widely, and engage with different perspectives. The more you learn, the more you can apply to your journey.
I would encourage those at the beginning of their journey to cultivate these qualities and skills. Embrace change, bounce back from setbacks, and never stop learning. Your journey will be more rewarding and fulfilling as a result.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
As a life coach, I’m always open to collaboration and partnerships that can benefit my clients and the broader community. I believe in the power of collaboration to create positive change. I’m interested in collaborating with individuals or organizations who share a passion for personal development, well-being, and helping others lead fulfilling lives.
