We caught up with the brilliant and insightful DESMOND BROWN a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have DESMOND with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I developed my worth ethic from the military and adapted it to my everyday life. I like to get things done asap, but I still take my time and pay attention to detail. That’s why my turn around is 24-48hrs when I do photoshoots. I usually knock out the shoot and jump straight to the computer and get to work. I don’t stop till the job is done. I work long hours and even later nights. My day starts no later the 8am, and like I said my nights not over till the job is done.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Hello, my name is Desmond Brown. I am a photographer/cinematographer. I am the sole owner of Aries Photography 901 LLC. I specialize in one on one shoots from professional models to everyday people. I shoot birthdays, boudoir, maternity, and creative vision shoots. I also shoot brand videos, music videos, and professional promotional. I am currently attending Full Sail Universityn to futher my knowledge and get my Bachelors in Film and Production.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three most important qualities for me were, time management, love for what you do, and good communication. Time management allows you to avoid feeling overwhelmed or stressed. It let’s you proficiently use your time for learning, money projects, and fun projects. As far as love for what you do, it’s not always going to be good or easy days, and money won’t always be there, but finding something you love to do, you’ll always want to do it no matter what. Communication in anything plays a big part weather it’s clients or potential business endeavors, you’re going to need to know how to talk to people and get people behind you.it also helps with advertising.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always looking for new models to collaborate with. I like models with flexible schedules, I can be very spontaneous especially when an idea hits. I like open minded individuals, that’s not always trying to do the same type of shoots. I love shooting out of the box ideas. Challenge me to create something new. A big thing is I need people that work well with other and can handle fast pace shooting. I do alot of group shoots so it’s alot of in and out rotation shoot here shoot there going on.
