Meet Desmond Wilson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Desmond Wilson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Desmond, so happy to have you with us today. You are such a creative person, but have you ever had any sort of creativity block along the way? If so, can you talk to us about how you overcame or beat it?

A good way for me to overcome Creativity Blocks is to go outside and touch grass. Take a walk somewhere as that would help free my mind. A good walk outside especially during the warmer months does the mind wonders.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

As of now, I stream regularly on Twitch and create videos for YouTube. It’s very special for me because this is essentially my escape from the real world. I could be tired, or stressed from work among other things, but once I’m live and I’m chatting with my community and gaming, I’m in my own world. That is what makes it special for me. I also like to see how creative I can be while streaming and recording as I have a lot of ideas I eventually would like to implement into streams and recordings.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three quality that I feel are most impactful is the enjoyment of creation, the ability to be myself and then the ability to create great connections. Early in my journey, I was very big on numbers amongst other things but no longer am I worried about the number as I am the quality of my content. The advice I have for people early in their journey is that it’s a very long marathon, not a sprint and comparing yourself to others will be the downfall of your career.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

If I knew I only had a decade left of life, I would probably spend that decade being a travel vlogger. Traveling is always extremely wonderful for me to get out of my comfort zone spending my time traveling around the world would be a great end to my journey in life.
