Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Destiney Gillespie. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Destiney, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
For a long time, I thought purpose was something you stumbled upon once everything in life made sense, when the pain was behind you and the plan was perfectly clear. But I learned that purpose often reveals itself in the middle of the mess, not after it.
I became a mother at sixteen, a season that could have easily defined me by statistics instead of destiny. But even then, God was planting seeds. Every hardship, every tear, and every setback became a lesson in perseverance and faith. When my son was little, I would pray, “God, there has to be more than this,” not realizing that the “more” wasn’t somewhere out there; it was already inside me.
Purpose found me when I surrendered my plans for His. It wasn’t one moment, but a series of yeses; saying yes to healing, yes to growth, yes to being used by God even when I felt unqualified. God took what I saw as broken pieces and built a platform that now helps women and young girls discover their worth and identity in Him through Godly Girl Collective.
Purpose, for me, was never about chasing success; it was about becoming who God intended all along. I didn’t find my purpose in a title or a role; I found it in His presence. When I stopped striving to be “enough” and started walking in obedience, purpose stopped feeling like a mystery and started looking like freedom.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m Destiney Gillespie, founder of Godly Girl Collective, Godly Girl University, and Destiney Gillespie Ministries. My mission is simple but powerful: to help women and young girls discover their identity, walk in purpose, and live unapologetically for Christ.
What started as a small online Bible study in my living room has now grown into a global community of over 500 women who are hungry for God’s truth and committed to living it out daily. Through our programs, mentorship, and events, we focus on discipleship, spiritual growth, and restoration, helping women confront the strongholds that have held them back and rise into who God has called them to be.
One of the most exciting expansions is Godly Girl University, a faith-based discipleship academy where women can deepen their understanding of Scripture, build biblical foundations, and grow in ministry leadership. It’s been incredible watching lives transform through each cohort; not because of me, but because women are encountering Jesus in a real and personal way.
I’m also preparing to expand Destiney Gillespie Ministries, hosting more in-person conferences and retreats designed to create spaces of healing, worship, and prophetic activation, where women can experience restoration and spiritual renewal.
What makes my work so special is that it’s not just about teaching; it’s about transformation. Every event, devotional, or course is designed to ignite faith, empower purpose, and transform lives. My heart is to see women realize that purpose isn’t something you chase — it’s something you become when you surrender fully to God.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three qualities have truly shaped my journey: faithful obedience, resilience, and emotional intelligence.
1. Faithful Obedience
Purpose is never discovered in comfort; it’s developed through obedience. Every major breakthrough in my life came after a moment when I chose to say “yes” to God — even when I didn’t have all the answers. My advice to anyone just starting out is this: don’t wait to feel ready. God equips you as you move. Trust that obedience will open doors that fear never could.
2. Resilience
There were seasons when life felt heavy — from being a teen mom to rebuilding after loss — but resilience kept me grounded. I learned that resilience isn’t about never breaking; it’s about choosing to rise again, stronger and wiser. For anyone early in their journey, build resilience through prayer, community, and consistency. You’ll find strength you didn’t know you had.
3. Emotional Intelligence
In ministry and leadership, how you respond to people matters just as much as what you say. Emotional intelligence has taught me to listen more than I speak, to lead with empathy, and to discern beyond the surface. My advice is to invite God into your emotions — let Him teach you how to respond with grace, humility, and understanding.
These three areas, obedience, resilience, and emotional maturity, have not only shaped who I am, but also how I lead. They’ve taught me that true success isn’t about being seen; it’s about being steadfast, spirit-led, and submitted to the process.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Absolutely. Collaboration is at the heart of everything I do because Kingdom work was never meant to be done alone. I’m always open to connecting with faith-driven women, ministry leaders, authors, speakers, and creative entrepreneurs who share a passion for empowering others through the truth of God’s Word.
I’m especially looking to partner with those who are called to discipleship, mentorship, event hosting, or community development; people who have a heart to reach women where they are and help them grow spiritually, emotionally, and purposefully. Whether it’s through conferences, digital collaborations, devotional projects, or mentorship initiatives, my desire is to build meaningful partnerships that advance the Kingdom and create spaces for transformation.
