We were lucky to catch up with Destiny Bureau recently and have shared our conversation below.
Destiny, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I come from very humble beginnings and learned early on that if I wanted something, I had to work for it. I grew up watching my grandparents run a carpentry business and saw firsthand the true meaning of hard work. They showed me what it means to be dedicated, resourceful, and resilient. No task was ever beneath them, and they took pride in their work.
I didn’t always have the same opportunities as my peers, but that never stopped me. I found ways to create opportunities for myself. Every challenge I faced taught me the value of perseverance. I’ve worked multiple jobs at once, taken risks, and stepped out of my comfort zone more times than I can count. Through it all, I’ve learned that you can’t beat the person who doesn’t stop trying, and that’s me. I am relentless in achieving my goals.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I wear a few different hats—I’m an occupational therapist, photographer, fitness instructor, and studio director at Infinite Mind and Movement. To some, these roles might seem unrelated, but to me, they are deeply connected. Everything I do is rooted in movement, wellness, and helping people feel good in their bodies and confident in themselves.
As an occupational therapist, I help people regain strength, function, and independence. Working with older adults has given me a deep appreciation for longevity and the power of movement at every stage of life. My fitness studio, Infinite Mind and Movement, was born from that same passion—creating a space where movement isn’t just about exercise, but about how you feel in your body while building confidence, connection, and a strong community.
My photography work adds another layer to what I do. I specialize in documentary-style wedding and lifestyle photography, capturing genuine moments that tell a story. Just like in my other work, photography is about emotion, connection, and preserving memories that matter.
Right now, I’m focused on growing Infinite Mind and Movement, expanding our class offerings, and continuing to build a supportive community. We’re constantly planning new events and collaborations, blending movement, wellness, and connection in unique ways. I’m also working on expanding my photography business, taking on more documentary-style projects, and pushing myself creatively.
No two days look the same for me, and that’s what makes it exciting. I’ve built a career that allows me to do what I love while making an impact, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Work Ethic – Small steps lead to big changes. Progress compounds over time, so stay consistent. I’ve worked jobs that weren’t glamorous, juggled multiple responsibilities, and faced moments of doubt. But every experience has taught me something valuable. Success isn’t always about massive leaps forward, it’s about showing up every single day, even when it’s hard.
Trust the Timing of Your Life – What is meant for you won’t pass you by. It’s easy to compare your journey to others, especially in a world where we only see people’s highlight reels. But every setback I’ve faced has either redirected me toward something better or taught me a lesson I needed. Trust the process, and don’t be afraid to take the leap when opportunities arise, even if they feel scary.
Stay Curious – I believe curiosity opens doors. I love meeting new people, learning about different industries, and hearing people’s stories. You never know who you’re meant to meet or what conversation might change your perspective. Some of my biggest opportunities have come from simply being open and willing to try something new. Don’t limit yourself by thinking you have to follow a straight path. Your career and passions can evolve, and that’s a beautiful thing.
My advice for those just starting out is to embrace the uncomfortable. You’re going to have moments of uncertainty, but that’s often where the most growth happens. Surround yourself with people who inspire and challenge you. Take risks, ask questions, and be willing to “fail” because every failure is simply a lesson that brings you one step closer to your goals. And most importantly, stay true to what lights you up. Passion and resilience will take you farther than anything else.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
The Alchemist was the first book that made me realize I wasn’t alone in the way I see the world. It reinforced the importance of trusting the timing of life, understanding that there are no mistakes, and realizing that we often already possess the treasure we spend our lives searching for.
In both my personal and professional life, I’ve had to make decisions that didn’t always make sense on paper but felt right. Learning to trust my intuition has led me to opportunities I never could have predicted.
