Meet DESTINY MCKOY

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to DESTINY MCKOY. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

DESTINY, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I found my purpose by finding myself in God. For a long time, I thought my purpose was to climb the corporate ladder, be the perfect wife and mom, and hold everything together flawlessly. I was doing all the “right” things, yet still felt empty and exhausted.

In a moment of burnout, I broke down before God, frustrated because even in all my effort, it felt like I couldn’t do anything right. That’s when He reminded me: He never asked me to be perfect. He simply asked me to be present and obedient.

In that quiet moment, I realized He had already placed inside me everything I needed my gifts, creativity, and even the desire for community. As I started to nurture those again, I began to see what He truly called me to do, not just for myself, but for my family and the women I now serve.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m the Founder and CEO of Destined For Greatness Homeschooling, a faith-based movement dedicated to helping moms lead their homes from a place of confidence, peace, and divine purpose. Under D.F.G., I lead two main initiatives: Mom School, a coaching and community experience for mothers rediscovering who they are in God, and our Local Homeschool Village, which creates real-life connection, field trips, and leadership opportunities for homeschool families across Maryland.

What makes what I do different is that I’m not your average homeschool mom. I didn’t step into this journey because I had all the answers, I stepped into it because I was determined to create a better rhythm for my home and a stronger foundation for my family. My experience as a homeschool mom, combined with my background in life coaching, transformation, and women’s entrepreneurship through Cornell University, allows me to bridge faith and strategy in a way that helps moms build structure, balance, and purpose.

I bring structure where there’s chaos, creativity where there’s burnout, and community where there’s isolation. My approach combines the heart of a mentor, the strategy of a coach, and the authenticity of a mom who’s walking it out too.

Right now, I’m especially excited about Mom School Live in 2026, our new in-person series designed to bring the curriculum to life through panels, workshops, and conversations that help moms apply what they’ve learned in real time. It’s not just an event, it’s an experience that reminds women they are called, capable, and chosen for this season.

Every part of what I do comes back to one truth: when a mom is equipped and encouraged, everything around her becomes stronger. That’s the heart of D.F.G.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

When I look back over my journey, three things have made the biggest difference: faith, discipline, and adaptability.

Faith was the foundation. It anchored me when things didn’t make sense and reminded me that obedience is often the doorway to clarity. My advice to anyone just starting is this: don’t wait to feel ready, start moving in faith and trust that God will reveal the next step as you go.

Discipline forced me to be focused on the vision. I had to learn to create rhythms and boundaries that made space for both motherhood and my calling. I learned that my purpose doesn’t thrive in chaos, it thrives in consistency. Start small: set a schedule, honor your time, and show up even when you don’t see immediate results.

And finally, adaptability kept me from giving up when the plan changed. Whether it was shifting from corporate life to entrepreneurship or learning how to homeschool three very different kids, I’ve learned that flexibility doesn’t mean failure. It means faith in action. When I let go of perfection and focus on progress I saw that the beauty of your journey is often revealed in the ability to pivot.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I’m always open to collaborating with organizations, brands, and leaders who share my heart for faith, family, and purpose. Collaboration has been one of the most beautiful ways God has expanded this mission beyond what I could have imagined and in this next season, I’m believing for partnerships that match the magnitude of what He’s building.

Through Mom School, I love working with coaches, speakers, and experts who can pour into our moms through specialized workshops, mindset sessions, and faith-based training. I’m also looking to connect with sponsors and organizations who want to support mothers through scholarship opportunities, helping remove financial barriers for women who are ready to grow but may not have the resources. As Mom School expands, I’d also love to collaborate with airlines, hotels, and travel brands for upcoming retreats and speaking opportunities because this movement is meant to impact moms nationwide.
Collaborations for event spaces, entertainment and vendors will be needed very soon for our Mom School Live Sessions as well.

For the D.F.G. Homeschool Village, I’m seeking partnerships with event spaces, family-friendly restaurants, and businesses that love serving children and communities. We host monthly meet-ups, field trips, and workshops, and I’m always looking for ways to make those experiences even more memorable for our families. Collaborations with other faith-based or homeschool organizations are also welcome. Together, we can build stronger support systems for families across the country.

Whether it’s speaking, community partnerships, or national collaborations, my goal is always the same, to help moms rediscover who they are in God and equip them to lead their homes and families with confidence and peace.
