Meet Destiny Whitehead

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Destiny Whitehead. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Destiny below.

Hi Destiny, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Being an entrepreneur can be really difficult and stressful at times. I developed my confidence and self-esteem by truly believing that this was my purpose and being exceptional at what I do. I feel like I’m more than just a bartender. Each cocktail I make is a work of art, but it wasn’t always like that. I had to work and practice a lot more than the average person to develop my skills at the level that I was comfortable with.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a mixologist, entrepreneur, and a bartending instructor. I most excited about this journey, because I am able to make a living doing what I love from day-to-day. I’ve created a Mixology Event that is very popular in the city where I live and I’m so proud of it because it’s ever changing And it’s a vibe that only we can provide. I’m excited for the launch of our cocktail sugars within the upcoming months. We worked really hard to develop this product and we want our launch to be as successful as it can be, but also take our time as well. We are truly a remarkable mobile bartending company because I was able to duplicate myself within my team and I trust them. That’s really hard for a lot of people to do the entrepreneurial role.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities and skills that were most impactful in my journey, would have to be my level of understanding, Customer Service, and my ability to make people feel they can trust me. My level of Customer Service goes beyond your normal scenarios. A lot of time I’m talking to my clients for months so we actually develop a relationship which makes it easier for me to get them to trust me. I always exude professionalism and make sure that my clients understand that I am the professional, and that they hired me to do a job that only I can do. Making my clients feel comfortable about their decision is very important because it makes sure that our bookings are nonstop. When you do a great job, they will always refer. Therefore, I’m able to contagiously provide work for my team.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing that my parents did for me is allowing me the freedom to think for myself. Growing up as a young adult I never felt stifled when it came to decision-making. My parents did their job and trusted their work therefore I was able to become a self-sufficient adult and make decisions that have positive impact on my life. My parents exercise consistency in my life so that is a trait that I have that I’ve used in My Business as well.
