Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Detriese Light. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Detriese, great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.

Most of my life I have been a creature of habit and did not stray from my routine. What started to change that was when my routine was nolonger making me happy. I wanted something different. I went through every possibility of what I could do to change things up but ultimately fear of change kept me in my routine. One day I had to come to an understsnding and fully grasp that what I was doing was not working and I needed to take a risk to figureout what did work. The 1st risk I ever took was going from a full time worker to becoming a PRN worker where I got to make my own schedule and decide when I would be working. I did this because I was getting burned out and wanted to enjoy life more than I had been and it was the best decision ever. The second risk I took was starting my own skin-care business and that is by far the scariest risk I have ever taken. I am constanly having to take risk with my business but I’m proud of myself for doing it.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a skin care business owner of E’shi Body Essentials and I make natural dual purpose sugar scrub cubes. The perks of the cubes are that it exfoliates, cleanses, can be used on any area of the skin and one cube last approximately 1 month. I enjoy using these cubes myself and so do my customers. I also find enjoyment in finding the perfect natural ingredients and coming up with solutions to general skin problems that can be solved with the cubes when creating them. For instance, the Vanilla Coffee cubes are good for acne and getting stubborn breakouts under control and Sugar Cookie cubes are good for thoes with sensitive skin and/or cannot handle products with a strong scents.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Self discipline, self encouragement and determination were the most impactful on my journey in taking the risk to be a business owner. You have to have the self discipline to stay focused on the goal, the self encouragement to keep yourself motivated even when everyone else is looking at you crazy or thinking your not going to see it through and the determination to prove, mainly to yourself, then everyone else that you can and will see it through to the end.

With being an up and coming skin care brand comes the challenge of getting the brand noticed. I completely understand peoples reservations when it comes to trying new skin care products especially if you have sensitive skin. So, lately my focus has been on educating others about the products, getting my brand out there and showing people that E’shi Body Essentials is a good natural skin care product. Over the past couple of years I have gained a few loyal customers and can’t wait to gain even more.
