Meet DeVante Mack

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to DeVante Mack. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi DeVante, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
Honestly, I’d say it’s a family thing. Both of my parents are hard workers and are both recently retired. Growing up watching my mom work hard as a single mother was inspirational as well as seeing my father work two jobs taught me to have a strong work ethic. I’d say for my generation, my work ethic is rare to find.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a multifaceted creative as well as an auto detailer.

I have been making content since late 2019 and through the ups and downs, I’m still enjoying it. It has led to me creating Divergent Being Media which is a network created to compile multiple shows and podcasts regarding topics such as Fashion, cars, sports, music and more. An upcoming project in development is the 2023 Sneaker Of The Year panel so please be on the lookout for it, as well as a solo concept film.

My detail company, Details By Mack is going well. I’m focusing on improving my skills and knowledge as a Detailer. Goals for the near future are to obtain shop space and learn how to apply Paint Protection Film and possibly window tint.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, I’d say the three things that shaped me up to this point, prioritize, take a leap of faith if you truly believe it will benefit you, and be a leader.

Prioritizing was something that I felt I really had to improve on and I’m still continuing to improve. I will say it’s tough trying to chase essentially a dream and still balance out everyday life but we’ve all heard the saying, if you want something bad enough, you’ll find a way to obtain it.

I’ve learned most don’t take that initial leap of faith cause they’re either scared to fail or they don’t have the work ethic or mentality to battle through the trials and tribulations. Like I said earlier my work ethic is rare for someone my age. I’m willing to go through the struggles if necessary cause I know my work ethic will carry me through them.

Being a leader was always a trait I knew I had in me it just took time to find it. I’ve always been a march to the beat of my own drum type of person but I think the older and wiser I became, the leadership qualities followed. It showed when I met my good friend Wes who is the founder of Endlesssmedia. It was interesting being big brother and mentoring him while being little brother to most of my peers but all has been well!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
The goal has always to build myself up with a solid team around me. I’m a very selfless person but I am also very wary of who I work with. Not everyone has the same morals/ideals as you so that needs to be taken into account. I want to work with people that are genuine and at the end of the day are willing to put in the same work I’ll put in.
