Meet Devin Floyd

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Devin Floyd. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Devin, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Not being afraid to fail is what has helped me along the way as far as confidence. I feel like if you have nothing to lose you’ll go out despite the obstacles that hinder you on the journey. Also performing in front of a group of people is something that I’ve done since I was younger. Acting school and programs like that helped develop my self esteem. Everyone is always judging so you can’t allow the fear of that to put life on pause.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Well first off, what’s up everyone? “IAMYOURLITTLEBROTHER” is who I AM. I am a musician before most things. My life and everything that I enjoy about it revolves around my family and music. The process of creating a new sound (language) just puts me in a new element where I’m allowed to feel as I create. It’s a very emotional game we play as artists. A lot of us open up to the world about our own life experiences through music. Surprisingly you may know a close friend that’s an artist but you may not “KNOW” them until listening to their work. I started pretty early with my artistry but the only thing that faulted the quickness in reaching my ultimate goal was learning everything. I learned how to produce my own work, build a song, engineer, and song-write alongside learning instruments. As a student of the game and lover of music, I wanted to become of the Mozarts, Pharrell, someone who knew how to do it all. Fast forward 7 years later after beginning the journey and Ive moved to LA from Houston, performing around the city at various venues which is where I also give out my “IAMYOURLITTLEBROTHER” merch. Still polishing up my website storefront so I’d tell the readers stay tuned for that. More merch coming soon, as well as new music I have about 5 different projects I’m working on at the moment. Show dates/tour dates will be on my Instagram and Spotify For both of those just type in IAMYOURLITTLEBROTHER and I AM

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking at yourself as a business. Your time is precious and it costs.

Read before you sign
Reading is fundamental and people miss out on a lot of shit by not reading.

NEVER GIVE UP!
If it’s something you want to do you just have to do it. No questions. Bet on yourself because it is YOU that desires more. I’ve had so many people I knew just give up because life doesn’t work out the way they want initially when they could’ve been only a day away from true success.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Looking to collaborate with a band. Sax, drums, keys etc. send them my way. @iamyourlittlebrother Or dadopedev@gmail.com

Definitely trying to work with a band for future shows. I’ve worked with different bands since I been in LA and all were great but I’d like to solidify my spot with a band because live music makes the world go round.
