We recently connected with Devorah Dobson and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Devorah, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I believe my work ethic comes from a combination of the responsibilities I’ve taken on and the goals I want to achieve. From coaching cheer to managing clients’ social media, I’ve learned that commitment and hard work pay off, especially when it involves helping others and seeing them succeed. My long-term goals—like building a successful career, being able to support my mom, and eventually buying a home—drive me every day. Knowing what I want and why I’m working for it keeps me focused and motivated.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a graphic designer, and a digital marketer. I’m currently a digital marketing major, and while I’ve always had a love for art, I’ve also had a strong business mindset. My journey in business and branding actually began back in high school in 2017, when I started my first business—a hair care line. I handled my own branding, and at the time, I didn’t realize how crucial that was. I went to a print shop one day, and the clerk asked who my designer was. When I told him it was me, he was impressed and pointed out how much potential I had if I could do that for other businesses. That moment sparked my interest in design, branding, and helping other brands build their identity. Turning my passion into a business felt natural, and that’s how Dajé Digital Production was born. So, in November 2018, while I was in Grade 12, I officially launched Dajé Digital. At that point, my only design tool was my phone since a laptop wasn’t within reach, but I didn’t let that stop me. I set up an Instagram account, @dajedigital, and promoted it through my personal page. I knew I was onto something when things took off almost instantly. At the time most people were gearing up to start YouTube channels, and aspiring YouTubers became some of my earliest clients and biggest supporters.
Seeing how quickly Dajé Digital grew inspired me to learn more, so I’m now pursuing a degree in Digital Marketing & Advertisement Management. I want to be able to help more people build strong brands and reach their audiences in ways that genuinely resonate. For me, it’s more than just creating something that looks good; it’s about telling a story, connecting with people, and building something memorable and meaningful. I’m excited for what’s next, and I can’t wait to keep growing Dajé Digital and helping other brands thrive.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, I think three qualities that made the biggest impact on my journey were resilience, resourcefulness, and a willingness to keep learning. Resilience was crucial, especially at the start when I was designing on my phone because a laptop was out of reach. It would’ve been easy to let that stop me, but I kept going, finding ways to make it work with what I had. Resourcefulness is just as important because, in the early days, you often don’t have every tool or resource at your fingertips. You have to get creative and make the most of what’s available.
Lastly, a hunger to learn has been huge. I realized early on that there was so much more to understand about design and marketing, which is why I decided to pursue my degree. It’s what keeps me growing and improving, allowing me to bring more to my clients.
For anyone starting out, I’d say embrace the mindset that you can work with what you have now while continuing to build your skills. Don’t get discouraged if things aren’t perfect yet; use your passion as the fuel you need to keep pushing, ask questions and know that every challenge is building your expertise and creativity, giving up is never an option.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes, most definitely! I’m excited to collaborate with entrepreneurs and brands who are passionate about making a real impact through their visual identity and digital presence. Whether you’re a content creator, a business looking to elevate your brand, or someone with a unique project that needs a creative spark, I’d love to connect.
