Meet DFRNT MIX

We were lucky to catch up with DFRNT MIX recently and have shared our conversation below.

DFRNT, thanks for taking the time to share your lessons with our community today. So, let’s jump right in – one of the most essential skills for unlocking our potential is self-discipline. Where does your self-discipline come from?

The discipline I set on myself to be able to work at my best, comes from lessons instilled into me growing up by my taekwondo/karate teachers. Black belt mentality is the term in order to be able to do anything without anyone having to give you a push; you push yourself.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I completely love being an artist ! Making songs in a dim lit purple/blue room, is a sensation of floating away in a river that’s taking you high into the sky; nothing beats the feeling of hearing a melody and suddenly having a mental visual of endless lyrics to choose from. Although it’s a fascinating sensation to create, the best part is performing in front a live crowd and seeing them love the music while smiling as they dance or bop their heads the entire performance. Now 4 years into this amazing adventure with everyone’s help, I’m happy to say I’ll be able to have my very own show completely controlled by me, and I’ll be handpicking artists I’ve met along the journey who I myself am a fan of.
The ultimate goal is to live of the music so that I never have to work again since making music does not feel like work; creating songs feels like euphoria.
Nunca me daré por vencido porque naces solo y te mueres solo, so vive a tu manera.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

At the beginning of this amazing endeavor, the top 3 things that gave me an upper hand in this cutthroat industry were; Consistency with uploading music, promoting the music online and LIVE performances. Secondly, being confident to the point you have no doubt about success. Lastly talk and connect with everyone you meet that’s super important.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Collaborating is one of the most artistic things I’ve experience due to the mixing of essences of two people under the same melody/beat. You never know what will result from a collab which is really exciting. I’m constantly collabing with artists in the studio for 8hr sessions just recording back to back. I enjoy collaborating with others who share the same passion for music; and more importantly have a similar goal in mind since I’m not creating as a hobby.
