We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Diamond Israel & Madison Jewel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Diamond Israel & Madison Jewel below.
Diamond Israel & Madison Jewel, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
We [Madi and Diamond] saw a need for deep healing within the collective, specifically the Divine Feminine. Both of us had been on very intense and emotional internal journeys toward healing and felt called to provide a safe space for others to do the same. The collective Feminine has been torn away from its true nature, which is rooted in community and sisterhood over decades and we sought to not only rebuild that but to redefine it for the people who felt called to do the same. Throughout time, women have been pitted against one another, framed as “weak” or “fragile,” told that they are “too much” or “too little,” and had their community stripped away. We knew how important it was to not only rebuild women from the inside out, starting with one’s self and reframing what self-love and acceptance look like for each individual but also to place importance on the magic and power that happens when women gather together. Madi had created a space on Snapchat called “NO BOYS ALLOWED,” which served as a safe space for the she’s, they’s, and gay’s to vent, connect, ask for advice, and offer their authentic selves with no judgment, and lots of support. The group itself has hundreds of members who utilize the private story daily. It became a beautiful space that materialized into a big part of Divine Society today. Diamond held her first event titled, “Beauty is Diverse,” back in 2019 as a way to showcase that what’s beautiful is diversity. She found a gap in her own personal upbringing as a mixed-race woman brought up in a predominantly white area and wanted to create a space for women of all shapes, ages, races, and hair types to join together and break societal beauty standards. At the event 18 women, 18 strangers offered their own stories, hardships, and experiences, and the support that was displayed brought everyone to tears. It was at this moment Diamond realized just how needed these spaces were. The event became the catalyst for joining forces with Madi to bring both of our missions to a larger community and audience and to serve those who were looking for a space to feel seen, heard, and held while healing themselves and the collective.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
At Divine Society, we’re all about creating a space where people feel like they truly belong. Our main goal is to make sure everyone who comes to our events feels seen, heard, and appreciated for exactly who they are, while rebuilding that sense of community and sisterhood that we have lost overtime. What gets us really excited is seeing the transformations that happen when people connect with each other and with themselves in a deep, meaningful way. It’s not just about taking photos—it’s about feeling empowered and supported to be your most authentic self.
One of the things that makes Divine Society really special is the sense of sisterhood and community that we’ve built and fostered through the work we do. We’ve created a safe and welcoming environment where people can share their stories, lean on each other, and learn from one another. Seeing these connections form and grow is incredibly inspiring for us.
Looking ahead, we’re eager to keep growing Divine Society and reaching even more people. We’re always on the lookout for new ways to connect with our community and create opportunities for them to thrive. Whether it’s through new events, partnerships, or projects, we’re committed to spreading our message of empowerment and community far and wide.
We actually have our 2024 event information up and applications are open! Our new website has been launched and you can apply there! This year’s event is taking place in Innsbrook, MO July 19-21. This is especially exciting for us because we are offering a weekend-long retreat this year, as opposed to our regular overnight stay. This event has some really incredible individuals coming to share their words, services, and stories with us through the weekend.
So, if you’re looking for a place where you can be your true self, connect with amazing people, and feel supported every step of the way, Divine Society is here for you. We can’t wait to welcome you into our community with open arms!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on our journey with Divine Society, things have been especially impactful with this line of work. Firstly, our unwavering passion for our mission and our clear vision for what we wanted to achieve have been fundamental drivers of our success this far. Our deep-rooted belief in the importance of our cause has kept us motivated and focused, even when faced with challenges. We advise those early in their journey to spend time reflecting on what truly ignites their passion and to envision the impact they want to make.
Secondly, it would feel wrong not to touch base on the fact that we are two humans in our 20s trying to do a really big job, and with that comes a few bumps and hiccups. That being said, flexibility and a willingness to learn and adapt have been essential as we navigated the complexities of building Divine Society. We’ve had to continuously educate ourselves, stay open to new ideas and feedback, and pivot when necessary to stay aligned with our goals. Cultivating a growth mindset and embracing every opportunity as a chance to learn and grow is something we consider vital for those starting out. It’s important to have a plan, but also jive with the ebb and flow of life and build off of what is brought to you, even if it doesn’t 100% align with the original structure you set in place. Be open to new ideas as they come and go!
Lastly, building a strong community of supporters, collaborators, and like-minded individuals has been such an incredible part of amplifying our impact and sustaining our momentum. By creating and prioritizing meaningful connections and partnerships, we’ve been able to leverage collective strengths and resources to further our mission. We encourage those embarking on their own journeys to prioritize building genuine relationships, both within their field and beyond, and to actively seek out opportunities for collaboration and support. We are firm believers in community over competition!
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Absolutely, we’re always on the lookout for amazing people and businesses to partner with. We’re particularly excited about collaborating with women-owned, BIPOC-owned, and LGBTQIA+-owned businesses because we believe in supporting and uplifting marginalized communities.
If you’re someone who’s passionate about empowerment, diversity, and inclusion, and you align with our mission, we’d love to work with you! Whether you’re an artist, activist healer, writer, speaker, or just someone with a great idea, we’re open to exploring collaboration opportunities together.
You can reach out to us through our social media or shoot us an email—we’d love to hear from you and see how we can join forces to continue to create something truly incredible.
