Meet Diamond Polk

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Diamond Polk a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Diamond , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience, it’s really a product of my unique journey and identity. First and foremost, it’s deeply rooted in my culture and upbringing in Compton. I learned early on the importance of resilience and witnessed the strength and resilience of my community.

Never taking no for an answer, that’s been a cornerstone of my life. I firmly believe that barriers are meant to be broken, and challenges are opportunities to grow. Whenever someone told me I couldn’t do something, it only fueled my determination to prove them wrong. This mindset has been a driving force in my life, propelling me to tackle challenges head-on and find creative solutions when faced with adversity.

Now, as a single mom, my daughter is my ultimate source of strength. The responsibility of providing for her and setting a positive example is a constant motivator. I want to show her that no matter what life throws at us, we can persevere and thrive. It’s a powerful feeling, knowing that my resilience is not just for my benefit but for hers as well. It’s something I’ve learned from my own mom– her strength and positivity. I’ve adapted what resiliency means to me and how I push forward to achieve my goals.

So, in essence, my resilience is a combination of my cultural background, my determination to never give up, and the unwavering love and support I have for my daughter. It’s what keeps me going, no matter how tough the road may get.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Absolutely, I’d love to share more about what I do and why I’m so passionate about it. I’m a real estate agent based in the Greater Los Angeles area, and it’s a career that truly excites me every day. What I find most special about my work is that I get to be a part of something deeply meaningful in people’s lives.

Homeownership is a lifelong dream for many, and I see it as an opportunity to help my clients not only find their dream homes but also to build generational wealth. It’s a powerful feeling to be able to provide people with information and guidance on one of the most significant investments they’ll make in their lifetime. Knowing that I can play a role in helping them achieve this dream is incredibly fulfilling.

I’m proud to work with ACME Real Estate, a design-forward boutique brokerage that truly understands the unique nuances of the Los Angeles real estate market. This understanding allows us to provide our clients with a tailored and comprehensive experience, ensuring they find properties that align with their needs and aspirations.

But what truly sets me apart is my approach. When you work with me, it’s like working with your homegirl. I believe in building genuine relationships with my clients, making the process comfortable and enjoyable. Real estate transactions can be stressful, and I aim to alleviate that stress by providing a friendly and personable experience. I’m here to listen, understand, and work closely with my clients every step of the way. Here to find a home, and stay for the vibes.

For many, with the cost of LA real estate, the downpayment (and closing costs), are the biggest hurdle to overcome. I’m excited to announce there’s a new program that requires only 1% down. There of course are other requirements, but assistance with that downpayment really helps ease that barrier to entry.

In a city as diverse and dynamic as Los Angeles, finding the right property is a one-of-a-kind journey for each person. I’m here to guide and support my clients on that journey, making the process not just about real estate but about achieving their dreams and securing their financial future. So, if you’re in the market for a new home or looking to invest in Los Angeles real estate, I’d be thrilled to be your go-to homegirl and real estate expert.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, there are three qualities that stand out as having a profound impact on my path to where I am today and those include a great sense of humor, a positive attitude, and the ability to pivot.

A great sense of humor has been invaluable. Life can throw unexpected challenges at you, and being able to find humor in difficult situations not only lightens the load but also helps you stay resilient. It’s a powerful tool for maintaining a balanced perspective, even in the face of adversity. My advice to those starting their journey is to embrace humor. Learn to laugh at life’s quirks, and don’t take yourself too seriously. It’ll make the journey far more enjoyable.

Secondly, a positive attitude has been a game-changer. Maintaining optimism, even when things seem tough, can open doors and create opportunities you might not have imagined. It attracts positivity, which in turn can fuel your growth and development. For those just starting out, my advice is to cultivate a positive mindset. Surround yourself with uplifting influences, practice gratitude, and approach challenges as opportunities for growth. Your attitude can be a powerful force in shaping your journey. In real estate, I feel attitude is everything, and that impacts your application.

Lastly, the ability to pivot has been crucial. It’s about being flexible and open to different paths, even if they deviate from your original plan. To those at the beginning of their journey, I’d say, don’t be afraid to pivot. Embrace change, be willing to learn new skills, and stay open to unexpected opportunities. Sometimes, the most significant breakthroughs come from the paths we didn’t plan.

These qualities have helped me navigate the ups and downs, find opportunities in challenges, and ultimately reach my goals. So, my advice to those starting their journey is to develop and nurture these qualities. They can truly make a world of difference in your personal and professional growth.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client is someone genuinely committed to making a home purchase. In a world filled with constant news and speculation about interest rates and market fluctuations, my ideal clients stand out because they have a clear and unwavering goal: homeownership. I’m never here to force my clients, I’m only here to guide them. So it feels right when they’ve come to the decision that homeownership is right for them.

These individuals are tired of the rental cycle and recognize that renting doesn’t provide a return on their investment. They’re ready to take the leap into homeownership, understanding that it’s a pivotal step toward building generational wealth. It’s not just about the financial aspect; it’s about fulfilling a lifelong dream, perhaps moving to the perfect neighborhood for raising a family, or simply settling into a place they can truly call home.

What sets my ideal clients apart is their hunger for knowledge. They understand that making informed decisions in the real estate market is crucial. They’re ready to soak up information, ask questions, and actively participate in the process. They’re not just passive observers; they’re actively engaged in shaping their own real estate journey.

And one more thing that makes my ideal clients truly special is their openness to a bit of spontaneity. You see, I’m a mom, and sometimes my little assistant, aka my toddler, might join us during our showings or Zoom calls. My ideal clients are understanding and flexible, appreciating the real-life aspects of our interactions. It’s like working with friends who understand that life can be a bit unpredictable sometimes.

In a nutshell, they are ready for homeownership, eager to learn and open to the joys and surprises that life brings along the way. They’re not just clients; they’re partners in this exciting journey towards making their dreams come true.
