We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Diana Care. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Diana below.
Diana , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I believe that a lot of success can come from Law of Motion. Putting yourself and your idea out into the Universe even after multiple rejections or “failures”. Essentially not giving up on yourself and your idea and truly believing in your dreams. Working in entertainment you won’t always get the job but there will always be opportunities and you never know what job or connection leads to another opportunity. I’ve found this to be true in multiple aspects of my life. I’m resilient because as life continues to go on, so must my dreams, and I approach this with a positive attitude.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m an entertainment professional who owns a synchronized swimming entertainment company that performs for corporate and private events worldwide! I’ve been a professional synchronized swimmer, actress, and model for 15 years and started my company Wet Swim Show in 2017. My main goal is to produce unique and bespoke aquatic performances that wow audiences with a concept the world has never seen before. I’ve created a new performance style of synchronized swimming with theatrical and athletic elements. My ultimate dream is to land a residency in Las Vegas so everyone can have chance to see! The most exciting thing about what I do is watching the audience smile as they see what was once a vision in my head become a reality. I also love that I have given former competitive athletes a chance to make a living with a skill that is also their passion.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
When I was starting my business I reached out to local programs that helped Women business owners in the community. I reached out to the Nevada Women’s Business Center and took advantage of the free programs they had. I had zero knowledge on how to start a business and this helped me get my feet off the ground. If you are an entrepreneur I highly suggest looking into your local resources,
I was a D1 athlete at The Ohio State University, It was there that I learned self-discipline, time management, team building, and communication. I also perfected my craft as a synchronized swimmer.
I also grew up an only child. People like to give us a bad rap, but I grew up independent and focused on what I wanted to achieve. Owning a business and being a leader came naturally to me. For anyone starting a business take what you’ve learned from life and your own experiences good or bad and apply them to your venture.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
I love when I get a call from a client who has a specific vision that’s never been done before. They ask if what they want is possible and I never say no. I will find a way to produce it and I love a challenge. For example, we had a client last summer who requested a synchronized swimming show to James Bond theme songs. I immediately jumped at the idea. I loved creating it for them and was so inspired by the idea. It turned out to be one of my greatest works!
