Meet Diana Dorempz

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Diana Dorempz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Diana , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Developing confidence and self-esteem is an ongoing journey. In the face of unrealistic beauty standards and constant body shaming in the entertainment industry, it’s crucial to cultivate a strong sense of self-love and recognition that one’s worth is not determined by someone else’s opinion. Stop people-pleasing and, instead, concentrate on developing valuable skills to bring to the table. Make yourself a team player and enter any room knowing that you have something meaningful to contribute.

Recently, I was working on a commercial and had an eye-opening experience with the wardrobe person – a skinny white lady. She hands me these uniform pants that clearly weren’t designed with my curves in mind. Instead of being cool about it, she goes on and on about how I need to update my size card, as if it’s my fault those pants run small. This got me thinking about how little she knew about her own job.

It’s not just about my experience – studies show that women in the industry are disproportionately subjected to questions about their beauty and weight compared to their male counterparts. We constantly deal with this pressure to look a certain way. This not only perpetuates harmful stereotypes but also creates an environment where women are judged based on appearance rather than talent and skills.

If you let it, this industry would eat you alive. You must know where to stand and be objective about yourself. If you want to lose or gain weight or change something about your image, then do it because it is healthy for you, because it would make you a better version of yourself.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am an actress and producer deeply passionate about the film industry. What truly excites me is the process of developing stories and bringing them to life, being part of a collaborative crew, and learning from different departments. I’m always eager to expand my understanding of the craft.

Originally from Venezuela, I moved to Los Angeles in my teen years. I pursued my acting education at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and furthered my academic journey, graduating from SDSU with a BS in Business.

I’ve recently been involved in several exciting projects. Firstly, ‘Mastering Rejection,’ a solo piece I wrote and performed, reached the finals at the Brisk Festival. Additionally, I am currently working on my very first documentary that explores women’s freedom of choice. I have developed a 6-week acting program, now offered at a local community college, aiming to make acting education more accessible and inclusive for Spanish speakers. In my spare time, I continue to work on my podcast ‘AudioSpanish.’

As I continue to grow in my career, I am increasingly drawn to the production side of the business. I am on a mission to create content that is not only entertaining but also inclusive, representing the rich diversity of our global community. I am actively seeking projects that align with this vision.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three things that really made a difference were resilience, staying true to myself, and always wanting to learn more. This industry, especially when you’re not from around here, can get pretty lonely. So, surround yourself with people who get you and lift you up… You’ll run into a bunch of fake ones too (laughs)– folks who make things harder, and make you doubt yourself. When that happens, go back to why you started this journey in the first place.

Remember that rejections are part of the deal but being resilient keeps you moving. It’s easy to get swept up in what others expect, but your uniqueness is what sets you apart. Also, this industry keeps changing, so you’ve got to keep learning. Stay curious, go to workshops, and sharpen your skills. The more you know, the more doors open up.

So, embrace your journey. Your art has a purpose, and the right people will see that!

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Absolutely, I’m always open to collaboration! I’m seeking opportunities with talented individuals, whether it’s joining forces as an actress or contributing on the production side. If you’re reading this and thinking, ‘Hey, collaboration sounds fun!’ just visit my website and shoot me a message.
