Hi Diana, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from my daughter. She has always given me the strength to face fears and given me the drive to take leaps of faith.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My name is Diana, and I am the founder and owner of SKINBAR BY DI, a body waxing studio located in one of Chicago’s western suburbs. I specialize in full-body waxing with a focus on brows and bikini services. SKINBAR BY DI is a small, one-woman business built with care, intention, and a genuine love for what I do.

Aside from waxing, I also offer brow and lash tinting, brow laminations, lash lifts, and airbrush spray tans. My passion truly lies in the treatment room. I love getting to know my clients and allowing them to walk out feeling like the best version of themselves after every visit.

One thing that makes SKINBAR BY DI special is the comfort my clients feel the moment they walk in. Many share that even their first appointment—often the most intimidating—felt surprisingly easy, comfortable, and welcoming. My studio is a safe space where clients can vent, unwind, or simply enjoy a moment of peace and quiet.

I am also excited to share that I will soon be moving my studio to a new location not far from where I am currently located. I look forward to continuing to grow my business, expanding my services, and welcoming new clients into the SKINBAR BY DI community.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are passion, continuous learning, and compassionate client care. First, being genuinely passionate about my craft has carried me through even the toughest days. When you truly love what you do, that dedication shows in every service. Second, I believe strongly in continuous learning. Our industry evolves quickly, and staying curious and committed to growth has allowed me to keep improving and offering the best experience possible for my clients. Lastly, compassionate client care has been a major part of my success. I focus on creating a safe, comfortable, and judgment-free environment. Especially during intimate services. Making clients feel respected and at ease builds trust and keeps them coming back.

Advice? Stay passionate, keep learning, and lead with compassion. Skills will grow over time, but trust and genuine care are what truly build a lasting career.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Absolutely! I’m always open to collaborating. The beauty industry can be very cutthroat, and unfortunately, not everyone is supportive. There have been times when I reached out to local providers in different specialties hoping to collaborate and uplift one another and the partnership never happened. It’s disappointing.

That’s why I’m genuinely excited to partner with people who are passionate about growing together. I’m a ride-or-die collaborator. I’ll support you 110% because there’s more than enough business for all of us. I’m looking to connect with other professionals in the beauty industry, including nail techs, hairstylists, skin therapists, and skincare brands (especially those focused on post-wax care).

I’m also very interested in partnering with gyms, yoga studios, running clubs, and similar communities. When people invest in their health and wellness, they’re often eager to invest in the services I offer, so it’s a natural partnership.
