We were lucky to catch up with Diana Quetti recently and have shared our conversation below.
Diana, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I was fortunate enough to discover theater and the arts at a very young age, and fell in love with the energy of live performing and being a part of a cast. Ever since I got involved in dance at a young age and more extensively theater, I knew it was what inspired me the most.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am very fortunate to be able to work in multiple creative avenues in my career. By day, I work in a marketing role for a great company where I can express creativity through marketing efforts.
Outside of this role, I continue to pursue acting in theatre and film, perform original music live, and release new music. As a singer and songwriter, I am constantly trying to challenge myself to write new material that can speak to an audience in an effective way.
I released my first EP album, begin in December 2022, and I’m actively working on a new album to be released this year or next. I was also recently part of an independent film, BEGET, in Berkshires County, MA.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I’ll start by saying that I am still and always will be a work in progress, but hopefully these tips and tricks will help! 🙂 Every artist has their own journey <3
1. Educate yourself on networking skills:
-I wish I had studied earlier on the best resources and ways to navigate the industry in terms of networking with the appropriate contacts, and understand where to take classes in the city. Never be ashamed of asking questions from fellow actors and find a community that you feel safe and comfortable in!
2. Study everything! – but focus on what you love:
-I typically audition for plays now more than musicals, but I try to read and see as much as I can. In terms of writing music, I loved all genres and try to listen to a variety of artists. I have found this has helped me zero in on what my sound is by reflecting and understanding a variety of types of music and sounds.
3. Trust yourself.
If you feel a project is right for you, audition. Or if you have an inclination to write an original work of any kind, just do it! The more you challenge yourself, the more you trust yourself. Plus, KNOW that you bring something to the table and someone is looking for you to be a part of their project! Your voice is beautiful!
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing that my parents ever did for me was from a very young age help me understand that there are endless possibilities for your life. Where you live, what you pursue, what you can love the most. There is so much in the world to experience, and if you wish and are able to explore it, you should. That is a gift that I will always be thankful for from them. Understanding and believing in your own unlimited potential is something that can help anyone achieve their goals. I’m so thankful that my family gave me the confidence to explore passions and dreams.
