We were lucky to catch up with Diana Saribekian recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Diana with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I get my work ethic from the discipline I developed in childhood while competing in rhythmic gymnastics. That sport taught me early on that consistency, focus, and pushing through challenges are key to growth. I also believe in working hard the SMART way — setting clear goals and being intentional with effort.
When you have a set plan and start seeing real progress — whether it’s in your business or your students’ accomplishments — it’s incredibly motivating. That kind of progress pushes me to show up and give my best every single day.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
As a kid, I always loved being active — dancing, gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, anything that kept me moving. That passion for movement has stayed with me, and in 2023, I turned it into a business by founding Stretchology here in California.
Stretchology is all about helping people of all ages improve flexibility, strength, and confidence through expert-led stretching and gymnastics training. What makes Stretchology special is that whether you join a private or group session, you receive personalized attention focused on teaching the proper and safe way to stretch. This ensures you get real results in class and also gain the knowledge and confidence to practice effectively at home.
I combine my rhythmic gymnastics background with a deep understanding of how the body moves to create a unique and effective stretching method. With a degree in Kinesiology, I’ve built Stretchology around both science and experience — making sure every stretch is purposeful, safe, and progress-driven.
Stretchology offers group and private classes for both kids and adults, creating a welcoming environment for anyone looking to improve their mobility and feel better in their body — whether you’re just starting out or have years of experience.
We also have an online stretching routine available on our website, perfect for those who want to practice at home or live too far to attend in-person sessions. It’s a great way to stay consistent and keep progressing no matter where you are.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding the name Stretchology, so more people know there’s a safe, effective way to gain flexibility and improve their overall well-being. I’m also excited about upcoming events and new programs designed to make flexibility accessible, fun, and sustainable for everyone.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three qualities and skills that have been most impactful in my journey are:
1. Knowing the right way to stretch: Proper technique is crucial not only for progress but also for safety. For example, many students don’t realize how important warming up is before stretching. About 90% of my students started without understanding that, but warming up properly can lead to bigger improvements and fewer injuries.
2. Building meaningful connections: In a place like LA, connections are essential. They open doors, provide support, and help grow your business or career.
3.Creating a safe and supportive environment: People keep coming back to Stretchology because they feel safe and confident that what they’re doing is truly benefiting their bodies.
My advice for anyone starting out is to focus on mastering your craft—learn and practice the right techniques deeply. At the same time, invest in building genuine relationships and always foster a supportive space where people feel motivated to grow.
What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?
I’d say I’m somewhere in between going all in on strengths and being well-rounded. Some people rush into things, thinking they’ll figure it out along the way, but I tend to be more cautious when it comes to big steps. I don’t believe in putting things off for too long, but I also don’t believe in rushing without proper preparation.
For example, I could have opened my own studio right after launching my business, but I knew there were important things to consider — like the financial commitment, location, small operational details, and long-term sustainability. Those are the kinds of decisions that require accountability and planning, not just passion.
So for me, it’s all about taking intentional steps — building on strengths while also preparing for everything else that supports them.
