We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Diana Short. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Diana below.
Hi Diana, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
It’s hard to pinpoint exactly where I get my resilience from, but I can say that I have always had a get up and go attitude. I had my first job at 16. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset and been involved in several things at once. I naturally have a curiosity about what I can create in my life if I put effort into pursuing my heart’s desires. If I had to really narrow down what makes me resilient, I would say it’s two things, the first being God really being my strength when I feel like giving up. The second thing would be my dedication to showing up every day with a desire to serve and support as many people that I can.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m Diana and I am an intuitive medium and owner of Divine Pearls of Insight, LLC. What that means is I have been blessed with the gift of tuning into the world of Spirit and bring forth messages rooted in love. My mediumship works via clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, claircognizance and empathy. I’ve always been intuitive, but about 6 years ago I accepted and understood my gifts enough to open up to the world. Growing up, I always had a fascination with those in Spirit and always sensed someone or something around me but did not know I genuinely made connections. I believe my first connection was with my grandmother who I’ve never met in person. Despite never meeting her I’ve always been deeply connected to her and talk to her often. She’s my best friend.
Fast forward, to the day I realized my gift could make a difference in someone’s life. I’d laid down for a meditation and I began feeling an intense pain in my abdomen, but I sensed that it wasn’t my own pain, so I explored the feeling further. A name of a friend I’ve known for close to 20 years popped in my head and I received information about her that she never shared with me. We were both shocked at what came through. She cried and I felt the healing that came as a result of sharing what Spirit gave me. I knew then that I needed to share my insights with those who are seeking answers. Since then, I have delivered hundreds of messages from Spirit to beautiful clients across the globe.
In addition to providing readings to clients, I am passionate about everyone being able to tap into their own intuition, so I have created oracle cards as well as a game called “I Be Knowin'”. This game is a simple way for players to build their confidence in their ability to tune into guidance from their own spirit team. As much as I love doing my work, I never want anyone to feel that without me or other mediums they can’t get the answers they seek. This is why I have created these tools for clients to use anytime and anywhere.
Lastly, if you are reading this than you are the first to know that coming soon, I will be opening a mystic tea house in Chicago where I am based. Customers will be able to come enjoy delicious, aromatic teas in a soothing environment. There will also be a space for clients to get readings from me! I am so excited for this next chapter for Divine Pearls! Follow my Instagram account (Divinepearlsmedium) for updates on the launch!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three most impactful qualities, skills and areas of knowledge that have most impacted my journey are my dedication to constantly growing as a person, my daily mindfulness practice, and my willingness to discipline my mind enough to show up for clients in readings. For folks early in their journey, I would say the best attitude to have is that things can always work out. Sometimes it works out in a different time or fashion than originally imagined, but challenges do have a way of working out. Second, I would say it’s important to celebrate small wins because they really do make a difference in the long run. Lastly, I suggest balancing alone time with time with others who have a general positive outlook on life. Managing one’s energy is what helps with the stamina it takes to be successful in life.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
There have been so many books that have made an impact on my life, but there is one tiny book that my dad gave me and my siblings when we were teenagers. He gave my brothers “As a Man Thinketh” by James Allen and he gave me “As a Woman Thinketh” also by James Allen and Dorothy J. Hulst. I’ve always cherished this book because it’s small but packs a punch. I love it so much I had a small book club with friends in my early 20’s to talk about it. To summarize the book, the overall message is that our minds are soil and whatever we plant in them we will see the fruit show up in our lives. So, if we’re always feeding our minds with negativity then that’s what will show up the most. The same goes for feeding our minds with positivity and optimism. This is not to say that we won’t go through challenges if we think positive. However, we will experience those challenges differently depending on what we are planting on a regular basis. There are some people who face a challenge and instantly go into solution mode and others who give up. This is usually a reflection of their general attitude toward life. I highly recommend both books as a nice pocket read as a reminder that we have more power to direct our lives than it can sometimes feel.
