We were lucky to catch up with Diana Slaughter recently and have shared our conversation below.

Diana, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I discovered Booktok (TikTok)! I had always been and avid reader but in 2023 I discovered Booktok and then I discovered Indie Authors and the rest is history! I am now a HUGE Indie Author advocate and use all my social platforms to promote/support Indie Authors!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a HUGE Indie Author advocate. I use all my social platforms to support Indie Authors. I host monthly Indie Author Mix N Mingle lives on Booktok as well as monthly Indie Author new release lives. I do virtual book signings with Indie Authors on lives. I am an influencer for 6 book conventions next year and the head influencer for another. I am collaborating on a new Indie Author book convention in Ohio next year. I am also planning and organizing the largest Indie Author book convention ever to be held and it will be in Georgia 20217! I do all I can to support Indie Authors!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I have always been an avid reader. I am very compassionate about reading and Indie Authors. I am consistent with my posting on Booktok for grow my following. The advice I would give to new Booktokers is to just be yourself and have fun with it. Also, the bigger a following that you get the more negative people will be but stay true to yourself!

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

My Booktok family is general! Booktok is so supportive, generous, and kind! I wouldn’t be where I am without my Best took family!
