Meet Dianey Villanueva

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dianey Villanueva. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dianey below.

Hi Dianey , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

My mom and my grandma have always been, and still are, my biggest inspiration (where I got my work ethic from). From a very young age, I was taught to keep learning and to work hard for the things I want. Through their wisdom and accomplishments, I was able to build and establish my passion career.

My grandma came from Mexico and worked incredibly hard to create a home here and provide safety for my mom and her siblings. To this day, she continues to work tirelessly. My mom carried on her legacy by going to college, earning awards in the business world, and even opening not just one—but two—businesses!

Watching them showed me firsthand that with hard work, dedication, and determination, your dreams really can come true.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I originally got into esthetics to help treat acne. Back in middle school, I struggled tremendously with confidence and self-worth—at the time, my acne felt like the end of the world. Pushing myself down this path has completely changed my life.

At first, I focused mainly on facials. They were relaxation-based, so while they were rewarding, I found myself missing the conversations and girl time I used to have—especially after my mom and sister moved back to Texas, leaving me feeling so alone.

I was already certified in Sugar Hair Removal, so I decided to dedicate more time to it. I had built a solid waxing clientele, but I struggled because the best wax remover (almond oil) was off-limits for me—I’m allergic! Switching to sugaring was truly the best decision I’ve ever made.

Not only was I able to connect with amazing women and fill my cup with conversation, but I also got to boost their confidence in such an empowering way. Before long, hair removal became my passion and primary focus.

So what is sugaring? Think of it like waxing—but more effective, gentle on even the most sensitive skin, and eco-friendly.

It’s made of just three ingredients: water, lemon juice, and sugar. Something so simple completely transformed my life, and it can do the same for you.

I wake up every day feeling blessed and grateful. Without the struggles I faced, I may have never found sugaring—and now, I couldn’t imagine my life without it.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, my esthetics class was one of the most impactful experiences of my life. Everyone was so supportive and encouraging—I seriously looked forward to going to school every single day. Our class clicked so well that we even started a group chat after graduating just to stay in touch. Going through school with those gorgeous ladies truly shaped the way I see the esthetics world.

I was also blessed with the most amazing esthetics teacher. She was a solo entrepreneur with over five years of experience, and she always gave us the BEST advice while making sure we felt confident in our skills.

After graduating, I wasted no time—I immediately got licensed with the state of Michigan and landed a job that fit my passion at the time. One thing my teacher drilled into our heads was to never stop educating ourselves. Because of that, I now hold 2 certifications in lash extensions and 3 certifications in Sugar Hair Removal—with even more exciting ones on the way!

So if you’re reading this and wishing for your dreams to come true… don’t just wish. Make it happen. Investing in yourself and your education will always be worth it. Don’t let those inner doubts hold you back—we are our own biggest enemy sometimes. Get out of your head, stay focused, and get on your grind!

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

I’m so grateful to have a strong support system. My fiancé is amazing at listening and letting me express myself—sometimes when I’m really upset he even feeds me, lol.

I make it a point to center myself and pray. Over the past few months I’ve discovered how relieving prayer can be; it’s helped me manage anxiety and stress in a way nothing else has. God is the BEST listener—sometimes even better than my fiancé!

I’m also a big gym girlie—working out is one of the best ways for me to release frustration, sadness, or anxiety. At the end of the day, I feel very blessed to have loved ones and faith beside me. I still have good days and bad days, but knowing I’m not alone eases my worries.
If you don’t have a strong support system, I highly recommend connecting with yourself and with the earth. God created this beautiful world for us to enjoy and heal in—there are so many simple activities that can help soothe your spirit. Try grounding: place your bare feet in the grass and do some coloring. Try swimming—being in God’s water can be incredibly healing. Try sunbathing for 10–15 minutes and soak in that warm, loving energy.

And if you ever need someone to talk to, reach out to me—I know what it’s like to feel alone sometimes, and I’m a really good listener. I’ll always do my best to support you.
