We were lucky to catch up with Diazhane Warren recently and have shared our conversation below.
Diazhane , we are so appreciative of you taking the time to open up about the extremely important, albeit personal, topic of mental health. Can you talk to us about your journey and how you were able to overcome the challenges related to mental issues? For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.
When it comes to mental health and being an esthetician you definitely need to find a balance , as early on in your career as possible . When I was just getting started in this field I wouldn’t eat for hours , drink water , or even step outside . I would just be focused on my tasks at hand but I realized in order for me to be at my best for my clientele I had to take care of me first .
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Diazhane Warren . I have been a licensed esthetician since 2019 . While in school I started to be mentored by a fellow lash tech and became a certified lash tech as well. 2019-2022 I worked in a salon fresh out of school and built my skills up when it came to conversing with clients , waxing , lashing , and learning about the industry. I am so grateful for the experience in a salon setting and getting to work on so many women and men ranging from all ages . In November 2022 I decided to take the leap of faith and begin my own business . I am currently grasping owning a business at hand while also trying to plan for my retirement and my future endeavors (TBA)
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
When I look back on my journey I would say the thing that stands out to me the most was my ambition and hunger . I wanted to be a pro in the industry , so I practiced as much as I could . I worked for free a lot at the beginning of my journey but I just wanted to be great . I practiced , and practiced , and practiced a lot . I fought through the anxiety , and the self doubt , and the comparisons.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m always looking to collaborate and trade services . I’m big on community and I feel like we need to bring back bartering . I love anything health and wellness ! Yoga practices, breath work , reiki , esthetics, other small business owners .
