Meet Diego “Bull” Avello

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Diego “Bull” Avello. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Diego “Bull” below.

Hi Diego “Bull” , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Well, I was born in a state called “Asturias” north of Spain, all my past generations’ mother’s and father’s line were born in the same state. This land is well known for never having been conquered by any army in almost 2000 years… When you grow up in that culture and with that heritage, you develop that kind of attitude to never give up. It doesn’t matter how hard the circumstances could be, and you might have all the odds against you, but if you stay loyal to yourself and work hard, you can always find the way.

It’s a difficult kind of life, taking the road less traveled is not an easy path, but the reward is 100 times better! Love and passion for Rock and Roll keep me focused and sharp. I also tend to analyze people without judgment. I find inspiration from those that have worked hard, have achieved their goals and are real and honest with their dreams. I also recognize those who chose to just stay in the comfort zone. I believe that at the end, in the long run, they pay the bigger price. Not taking a risk is the biggest risk!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m the singer and songwriter of the “Stubborn Rock ” band “Bull y Los Bufalos”

“Stubborn Rock”… a bold statement describing an unrelenting, powerful musical force, born from fiery passion and fierce determination.

A sonic blend of Texas blues-rock, Rock and Roll, and a hint of Spaniard flare, Bull y Los Bufalos’ is the latest music endeavor by Diego “Bull” Avello – a Texas-by-way-of-Spain journeyman who forged his own path by fearlessly taking the road less traveled. The sound reflects his driving ethos of never backing down to achieve his goals. With a repertoire of both English and Spanish lyrics topping fire-roasted riffs and rhythmic grooves, Bull y Los Bufalos has caught the ear and attention of unique crowds worldwide, landing them everywhere from the famed Whisky A Go Go to the largest biker festivals in Latin America. Above and beyond a reputation for powerhouse live shows, the rugged theatricality of Bull’s brand of rock led his music to be featured in the globally distributed television series Sons of Anarchy spin-off Mayans MC.

Bull hails from Asturias – a captivating region of Spain that’s home to religious sites, historical medieval architecture, and rugged mountains. That rich, cultural tapestry informed his creative spirit, which he carried with him to Madrid, where he began his musical journey with Bull y Los Bufalos. He then spent several years in various parts of Mexico before making his way to the US. Amidst the course of his travels and career, Bull has released three studio albums and a live album, with several successful national and international tours under his belt. Fury marks the next chapter of his story, as he continues to establish a blazing, burning legacy with no signs of stopping – the soul essence of “Stubborn Rock”.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. Difficulties and pain are life’s best teachers, I know it sounds contradictory, but don’t avoid them… try to embrace them, even try to enjoy them! You can find your better moments embracing and enjoying the difficulties and also there is great learning and joy when you overcome them. Sometimes you are the hammer and sometimes you are the nail, if you learn how to take advantage of both situations, you always will be winning.

2. Love what you do, spend your time and energy in things that you really love, Putting energy and time into work, people or situations that doesn’t really fill you, will only drain you and will keep you further from the things you love. One life, one chance!

3. Keep it real, we live in a new world where everything is processed… auto tuners, filters, plastic surgery, on-line friendships, magic medications, fake food, etc… Try to be real, even if you think that is ugly right now, being real is the most attractive exercise you can practice! You will attract people like you and it will keep the fakeness far from you. Also, stay as much as you can in contact with nature, that’s the only real magic medication.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

I’m constantly facing challenges and obstacles, That’s the constant life of a musician! lol

I have to deal with all the struggles that my profession carries, finding gigs, being promoted, finding inspiration and time to write songs, practice, work on social media, pay my team, and pay my bills!! Not having a monthly salary makes everything way more difficult to establish.

I’m also an immigrant, so besides my “regular challenges ” as a musician, I have to achieve notable goals to keep my Artist music Visa being renewed and keep living and working in this country. Without a doubt, that is my number one focus and priority. Lawyers are very expensive, immigration processes extremely difficult and the competition in the music industry is very, very hard. Rock and Roll was born in the US, musicians here are the best! I work extra hard to keep being relevant and competitive.

I was honored 3 times with an artist music Visa based on “extraordinary abilities in the art of music”. I’m very proud of this achievement but I can’t relax at all if I want my Visa to keep being renewed or to finally receive a Green Card.
