Meet Digital Garden

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Digital Garden. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Digital below.

Digital, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

The way I like to keep my creativity alive is by finding other creative things to do. If I’m not motivated enough to make music, I make videos. If I’m not motivated enough to make videos, I’ll write a short story. Bottom line is, there’s always something I could make that’s different from what I temporarily have trouble making. The more I create in general, the more productivity I build. The more of that, the more results I get from making something I can look back on and be proud of. This string of creativity has allowed me to find joy in the initial thing I needed a break from, which I believe to be rekindled by the boost in general productivity.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m Christian aka Digital Garden, an artist and creative mostly dabbling in music composition, songwriting, and video editing. Apart from that I have had experience in web design, 3D modeling, and most recently collaboration with AI on designing games. I find it exciting to always learn new things about the fields I’m in, and to be able to share it all with others. I like to experiment in any way I can, create a ton of silly and interesting things, and see how it resonates with anyone. I’m currently preparing my next album for release in December of this year.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

My list of three is always this:

1. Time management
2. Always being open to new ways of doing things
3. Collaboration / connections with like-minded people

My advice is that I know how hard it can be to start bettering yourself in all of these things or even trying them out to see how much you’d like it, but if you put small bits of effort in each day, you’ll see great progress being made slowly but surely. Build a tiny habit where you spend more time developing skills/abilities bit by bit by bit. For me, this has happened in the form of texting people I know asking if they’d like to work together, exploring and playing around with plug-ins on software programs, and sitting down to make something from scratch. The things you do can be very simple by the time you choose to acquire extra skills, as they will evolve into a lot that you can show for it all.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I’m always looking for collaborators, whether that’s through friends I already have or people I meet that are in similar fields to me. However, I’m eager to reach beyond what I’m familiar with and work with anyone reading this who may be interested. I’m open to anyone from vocalists, songwriters, instrumentalists and producers, to more technical stuff like cinematographers and video editors.
