We were lucky to catch up with Dima Kontar recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dima, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from my upbringing and my sense of purpose. I was raised in a family that taught me the value of showing up even when things were hard. I watched people around me push through challenges without complaining, and that modeled a quiet strength I carry with me.
Being the only one in the room who looks like me hasn’t always been easy. I’ve had to navigate doubts—both external and internal. But over time, I’ve learned to see that as a source of power. I’ve come to trust that my voice matters, even when it’s different.
I also draw strength from the people who came before me—those who had fewer opportunities and still made space for people like me to step into these rooms. When things get tough, I remind myself that I’m not just here for me—I’m part of a bigger story. That keeps me grounded and moving forward.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As a mom, former model, immigrant, and now digital creator, my journey has been anything but linear—and that’s exactly what makes it powerful. I started out in the world of modeling, where I learned how to carry myself with confidence, even in spaces where I was the only one who looked like me. But over time, I realized I wanted to do more than just be in front of the camera—I wanted to control the narrative. That desire is what led me to build my own platform as a lifestyle influencer and content creator.
Today, I focus on inspiring and empowering women—especially mothers—to embrace their full selves unapologetically. Through my content, I share not just style, beauty tips and out and about in my area, but also moments of vulnerability: motherhood challenges and real life situations. I want my audience to feel seen and uplifted.
What feels most exciting about what I do is the freedom to blend storytelling, visual creativity, and real-life connection. Whether I’m partnering with brands I genuinely love or exploring new places, my goal is always to show you what is new and keep you engaged and informed.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Authenticity & Personal Branding
Why it matters:
People follow influencers because they feel connected to who they are, not just what they post. Authenticity creates trust, relatability, and long-term loyalty.
How to develop it:
Get clear on your core values and what lifestyle themes you genuinely care about (e.g., wellness, productivity, aesthetics, minimalism).
Document, don’t manufacture. Show real experiences, even if they’re imperfect.
Develop a consistent voice and visual style—this helps followers recognize your content instantly.
2. Content Creation Skills (Visual + Storytelling)
Why it matters:
Strong photography, video, and captions aren’t optional—they’re how you tell your story and stop the scroll.
How to develop it:
Practice with tools like Canva, Lightroom, or CapCut to refine your visuals.
Study storytelling frameworks (e.g., the hook-problem-solution model for captions or reels).
Post consistently and analyze what content resonates. Don’t wait for it to be “perfect.”
3. Community Building & Engagement
Why it matters:
Your follower count is a vanity metric if you’re not building relationships. Engagement is what creates real impact, brand collaborations, and sustainability.
How to develop it:
Respond to DMs and comments genuinely. Be a human, not a broadcaster.
Use interactive tools like polls or questions in stories to start conversations.
Collaborate with other creators—comment on their posts, do shoutouts, or co-create content.
Final Advice for New Influencers:
Start before you’re ready. Perfectionism kills momentum.
Pick a few platforms and focus—don’t try to master everything at once.
Track progress weekly, not just in followers, but in engagement and personal growth.
Be patient. It takes time to find your voice and build trust.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes—I’m always open to thoughtful, values-aligned collaborations that genuinely bring value to my audience.
I’m especially interested in partnering with:
Brands and creators in wellness, intentional living, fashion, home aesthetics, travel, local markets, family events, or clean beauty.
Founders of purpose-driven products that solve real problems or inspire mindful living.
Other influencers or creatives who want to co-create content, host giveaways, do takeovers, or create community-driven campaigns.
What I Value in a Collaboration:
Authenticity over hype.
Creative freedom that allows me to tell a real story.
Shared values around quality, inclusivity, sustainability, or intentional living.
