Meet Dinah Rankin

We were lucky to catch up with Dinah Rankin recently and have shared our conversation below.

Dinah, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m a niche Internet micro celebrity and comedian formerly known as “Sluttytaylorswift”. I’m a “commodel” comedian/model…..like a laberdoodle.

I first reached viral internet fame when Katy Perry followed my Instagram account, sluttytaylorswift. Katy sent me a message telling me she followed me bc I was funny and had great style. Overnight my Instagram became the center of a tabloid feud between two mega popstars.

I’m still Sluttytaylorswift on tik tok. However, you can’t be punk like that nowadays on Instagram. My pages are about my brand of humor and my interactions with media and pop culture.

I’ve been called a “performance artist” for the stunts I’ve pulled over the years. I used to have a okcupid dating profile that was just me in a Jason hockey mask. There’s a paparazzi video of me on date with Andy Dick in the Jason mask. That was me trying to say there’s a lot of creeps on the dating apps. I’ve always thought it would be funny to perform at the laugh factory in a gas mask because it would be so hard to “breathe” from the toxic masculinity. My humor is mostly appreciated by gay people and women. I’m here for the male gays, not the male gaze.

Speaking of gays I’m excited to announce I’ll be appearing in an episode of “Susan and Denise” on Night Flight Plus!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

My advice would be to have the audacity to try. You need to do the scary thing, you need to be original, and you need to open a Roth IRA.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?

Honestly I would be thrilled. Let’s wrap it up! I would probably write some amazing scripts and then just spend all the money on traveling, clothes, and food.
