Meet Dione Tripp

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dione Tripp. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Dione with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I started working with our small family business building houses when I was six. Some of the first skill set, I learned was pulling nails and learning leverage . I worked summers during school years and by the time I was 15 we had built our first shed at 19 building my first house. As a single mother, I went to Junior college and University to earn my degree as an artist while building houses for our small family business. Although I failed to receive my teaching certificate at that time, I did manage to graduate with my bachelors of art. Substitute teaching didn’t pay the bill so I stuck with carpentry and created crafted time between my busy schedule of work and motherhood to create pieces of art or indulge in study. Combining my architectural understanding with my art developed into something unique in its own architectural gazebo art. In 2020 I started my own two businesses. Incorporating my knowledge and building and housing along with my artistic skills I developed a clothing line @artistdione.org And I maintain a construction business, doing plaster, drywall, painting, and tile

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Currently, I’m expanding my clothing line @artistdione.org For the last five years, I’ve been working on developing a clothing line Of course, I’ve been diving into the gallery Space. And continuously developing myself as an artist, a painter and a sculptor! I’ve also recently teamed up with save our youth organization in Jackson and Michigan Club Create, providing an artistic experience for the community!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Community! Community is the most important part of this journey! Networking finding other artist that are like you or not like you at all. Finding unity within the space of creativity across the state! The creative space Has been very supportive and giving.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I’m looking to collaborate with a natural space for the architectural gazebo. To become an outdoor theater in the round. A space for creatives to present to the general public. Festivals and art events to have a pop-up clothing, booth or live painting sesh!
