Divine, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

As women of color in the music industry who are often outnumbered by our male and nonblack counterparts, our success has been the product of tenacity, community, and trust in our abilities per our lifelong record of education and accomplishment. Being effective also comes with finding the gaps in a space and providing solutions for the success of an entire group or project.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

We are musicians, singer-songwriters and recording engineers who have worked as educators and healers in both private and public sectors. We produce and define high-vibrational music as any genre that features uplifting musical tones or healthy, safe and positive lyrical themes. Having researched the field of music therapy, we’ve seen the restorative effects of sound vibration from various sources, including the human voice, acoustic-electro instruments, and percussive devices. This type of music serves the unique purpose of aiding in emotional, mental and physical wellness, which is our goal as a musical duo.

Fusing our passion for helping people through music has been the most fulfilling part of our journey because you’re often told you can only do one thing, one way. We’ve found a way to niche our musical brand so that listeners not only get something that sounds good, but something that can heal and enlighten them at the same time.

Some exciting news is our new single with R&B / Soul icon, Musiq Soulchild. It’s titled ‘Elevate’ and also features rapper O’hene Savant, both of whom hail from Philadelphia. The song is set to release on Spotify and all other major streaming outlets March 20th, 2025.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

In music, a life-long habit of practice has been critical to mastering our craft. Never underestimate the power of being prepared because when opportunity knocks, you need to be ready to GO at a high level without delay or excuses.

Another impactful thing in our journey has been learning the business of music. For the longest, we were just creatives with little knowledge or care for the administrative side of things. However, we’ve learned if you want to grow successfully and expand your reach, you have to network, understand contracts, and prioritize marketing and promotion of your material.

Lastly, integrity has played a major role in our careers because it doesn’t matter how talented you are if people can’t trust you to show up and do the job. Character matters. Being a person of your word and doing your best when you arrive is what keeps you working. Never forget that.
