Meet Dj Boogs

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dj Boogs . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Dj , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
I observe. I find the room I feel like I need to be in, I go and I observe. I see what I can add to the room, what’s missing from the room then I find a way in so I can showcase what it’s missing

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My Name is Dj Boogs, I come from Brooklyn NY. I am currently growing to be one of the most requested Dj’s in the NYC scene. Growing up, I always had a love for music. I learned how to Dj when I was 11/12 from watching my father do it. As years passed I watched my older brother do it and thought to give it a shot and I’m glad I did. My goal as a Dj is to leave the people with an experience they don’t get anywhere else. I want you to go home and remember the vibe I created for you

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities I feel are most impactful in my journey are

1) Study the craft. Without studying and practice, there’s really no other way to hone your skills

2) know what you want. Target audience, demographic, where u want to be. To me you can’t realistically have everything

3) learn the business. This is most key to me actually

Advice to younger Dj’s wanting to come up, know what you want. Don’t chase the money you’ll burn out fast.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Well currently where I’m from (NYC) the DJ market is so packed. So much talent all over the city. My obstacle I would say is trying to separate and stand out from the rest. Finding a niche where people can hear or see and say “yeah That’s Boogs”
