Meet DJ CeNo

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful DJ CeNo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

DJ CeNo, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

I am a firm believer in that what God has for you, no one can take from you and that he has a plan for all of us. Due to that, I go into situations knowing that if it’s meant for me, then it will happen so it doesn’t hurt to try. This gives me the strength to be optimistic and believe that everything will turn out the way that it’s supposed to.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I view myself as a music artist because I wear some many hats when it comes to music. I make beats, write and record music, dj and executively produce songs and music projects for me and other artists. I have been creating music since I was 12, but didn’t begin to seriously start pursuing a career until I was about 14. I initially started out with more of a supportive role, primarily making beats for my brother and the group that we were in at the time. I would also write some hooks and verses, in which I provided the vocals for, but wasn’t really the lead artists. This would go on until I went to college where I began just focusing on making beats for my brother. However, I also began gaining interest in djing while I was in college. That’s when I started actually seeing the fruit of my labor. From that point, my career focus shifted, causing me to still have a pretty successful dj career today. That decision resulted in me djing in several states and even other countries such as Japan, Singapore, the Philippines and more. In addition, along with a business partner, I eventually began coordinating and having events. However, though I still dj and coordinate events, as of the last year and a half, my career focus has shifted again. This time, I have been dedicating my time in being a recording artist, still making beats, producing, writing and recording music, but this time while being the front man. Due to my years of working with other artists and djing, I believe that I have gained an idea of what makes people move, especially when it comes to the club scene. This is why I think people should tune in to me as both a music artist and event coordinator. Be on the lookout for more music dropping and an event near you.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I think my faith, passion and open mindedness have been very helpful for me. My faith in God and his plan keeps me going. I believe talents are God given, so that means that I was meant to create music. In addition, being passionate about music as a whole keeps me wanting to create more even if it’s just for fun or to challenge myself. This also goes along with me being open minded. I am always down to link with artists from different genres. I have already recorded a couple of EDM tracks, one being available now. In addition, me being open minded led me to djing some music festivals. Due to these qualities, I would tell people to believe in your purpose and be open to stepping out of your comfort zone. You never know where you’ll go when you allow yourself to be open minded.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

My wife and son have definitely being my inspiration. My wife always pushes me and has been supportive since day one. Because of her, I am able to remain grounded when faced with challenges. She always makes me feel as if I can overcome anything. In addition, wanting to provide an amazing life for my son keeps me pushing.
