Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have DJ with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I get my entire work ethic from both of my parents. Seeing them always hustle and rise to the occasion even when I thought it wasn’t possible, they would make it happen for me. Learning to be a leader at a young age. I had to cook and take responsibility while my parents were working. Learning those basic skills at a young age made me into who I am today. I’m forever grateful to be raised by such beautiful people who taught me not only how to be a hustler but also a leader.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I go by DJ NAS , Wake Em’ Up NAS, The Hottest Female DJ in the 9 (229)
I’ve been DJing 7 years as of this year. All of the challenges ups and downs, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I begin officially DJing and making profit in 2016. Also in 2016 is when the worst happened. My favorite aunt was called home and I was devastated, hurt and sad. I knew that if she were here today she would be overjoyed in my accomplishments and my fire to keeping climbing.
My past years, I’ve met some of the most dope DJ’s females and male, producers, artists and just creatives in general.
In the future I see many opportunities and more doors opening for females in this industry. I plan on launching my own podcast exclusively catering to the women who desire to expand their craft. Whether they are artists , DJs or producers. I want to work with everyone.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
3 most important qualities being a DJ
1.Learn how to read a crowd, go out to bars or clubs to check out the DJ network and focus on how they react to reading the crowd.
2.Know YOUR MUISC
3. Have FUN!
Anyone who is early in the journey of becoming a DJ. I say get with someone who is willing to mentor you and show you the ropes. NEVER GIVE UP!
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
