Meet DJ Soulful Desire

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to DJ Soulful Desire. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

DJ , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I found my purpose at a very young age being around many older adults. When I was younger , my parents constantly took my brother and I to church, Outside of church, my parents were very active in working and serving in the community. The combination of serving in the community and being in church , help me find my purpose.Serving in the community, taught me how to give back and sow in to others. Growing up in church and singing on the youth choir along with playing trombone for a few years for the choir, gave me a bigger passion and purpose in music. Currently serving at my church ,CKBWC on the media and sound ministry, keeps me motivated and to serve in my bigger purpose, along with DJING and producing.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m DJ Soulful Desire a female DJ and producer out of North Carolina. I’m the founding CEO and owner of Unique Sounds of Soul Record Label in NC. It’s been extremely exciting to share my passion and love for music to the world as a DJ. Its also been beautiful in my role as a producer , to help artist , become the best versions of their self through expressions of music.I currently have four artists signed to my label. It’s been a joy to see each one of my artist grow personally and on an artistry level.Two albums has been released since 2025, and a third album is set to release the end of the year, from another one of my artist. Recently my artist and I appeared on National TV along with some of our tracks being played on the radio.Outside of my signed artist, I’m currently working with some new artists for development. I’m excited to see how far their journey goes.My Assistant Mandinka Watson, launched an online clothing store with many nice items to purchase. Mandinka, has been an asset to many events and marketing for the company.My other Assistant Edward Clark , has been a very powerful force, in making sure the key components, of production and engineering is done correctly of all music.Edward has been an asset in assisting with the newer developing artists and helping them manage there progression.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The best three qualities that impacted myself on my journey: 1. To always be respectful/compassionate. 2. Stay optimistic and 3. Always be Eager to Learn. Being respectful , paints a positive light and shows others you acknowledge their presence with a pleasant manner in feeling valuable.Being compassionate , is the simple act of being able to empathize and understand the desires and needs of others. Always stay optimistic to new opportunities that challenge and change your future.Always be eager, to have a bigger drive and want more out of life. For anyone who is new on this journey, I encourage you to remain humble, be a listener and pay attention to all details.Last but not least , be open to constructive criticism. Many paint constructive criticism negatively, when it should only be a guide to help you improve and not to tear you down.Constructive criticism , is a tool that should be used, to help you become a better version of yourself .

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?

I would spend a decade , of just living life to the fullest with all of my loved ones. In the midst of enjoying time with loved ones, I would still create new and more memories and travel the world abroad in its entirety. Giving back to the community and making sure I leave a positive and powerful impact.Last but not least,I will still work hard, to make sure , I leave a strong legacy behind, that can continue through out generations.
