We recently connected with Dmytro Hrytsenko and have shared our conversation below.
Dmytro, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?
I persist despite the haters and nay-sayers because, at the end of the day, their opinions have zero impact on my goals, my progress, or my success. I don’t live my life seeking approval from people who contribute nothing to my journey. Instead of letting negativity slow me down, I use it as fuel to push even harder.
I remind myself that doubt and criticism are part of the process. No matter what you do in life, there will always be people who don’t believe in you, people who want to see you fail, and people who project their own insecurities onto you. But their words don’t define me—my actions do. I focus on my work, stay committed to my vision, and keep moving forward regardless of what anyone says.
Success isn’t about proving haters wrong; it’s about proving yourself right. I measure my progress by my own standards, not by the noise around me. I stay disciplined, I block out distractions, and I remind myself why I started in the first place. At the end of the day, my dreams and ambitions are bigger than anyone’s doubts, and that’s why I keep going.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a graphic designer who has worked with countless clients over the years, including major names like Drake. As an album art creator, I specialize in crafting unique visuals for music artists across a variety of styles, bringing their artistic visions to life in a way that complements their sound and brand.
My journey in design has been driven by passion, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the music industry. Every project is an opportunity to push artistic boundaries and experiment with different aesthetics, ensuring that each piece of artwork stands out. Whether it’s bold, minimalistic, surreal, or abstract, I adapt my style to match the energy of the music while keeping my signature touch.
Having worked with independent artists and global superstars alike, I understand how powerful album art can be—it’s the first impression, the visual identity, and an extension of the music itself. I take pride in translating an artist’s sound into a striking visual that resonates with their audience. My goal is always to create something timeless, something that enhances the overall experience of the music.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in my journey as a graphic designer and album art creator have been consistency, the constant learning process, and hard work. These are the pillars that helped me grow, build a strong client base, and work with major artists.
For those early in their journey, my biggest advice is to develop discipline. Talent means nothing without the ability to stay focused and committed, even when motivation fades. Studying stoicism can also be a game-changer—it teaches resilience, patience, and the ability to stay level-headed through the ups and downs. Mastering discipline and adopting a stoic mindset will help you stay on track, push through setbacks, and keep improving, no matter what.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was accumulating enough money to give me the opportunity to start fresh in a new country and study at a foreign university in Poland. That foundation gave me the chance to explore my passions, develop my skills, and build a career in graphic design.
Moving to a new country wasn’t just about education—it was about experiencing a different culture, meeting new people, and pushing myself beyond my comfort zone. Without their support and sacrifice, I wouldn’t have had that head start. They gave me the chance to chase my dreams on a larger scale, and that’s something I’ll always be grateful for.
