Dolores, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Growing up, I had to develop resilience from a young age. My mother, a single parent, worked tirelessly to provide for our family, and I was the eldest child. I had to grow up faster and take on more responsibilities than my siblings, which taught me to be resourceful, adaptable, and self-reliant. Watching my mother’s determination and strength in the face of adversity instilled in me a sense of resilience that has stayed with me to this day.

As a passionate advocate for myself and the things I wanted, I’ve always felt myself wanting to live and create a life that was fulfilling. Growing up, I had a fascination with collecting rocks from all sorts of places such as beaches, random front yards, parks it was my favorite part of the day! Later, in my senior year of high school, my interest in crystals, gems, and fossils became an obsession. What started as an expensive hobby soon turned into something bigger than I ever would’ve dreamed about doing. When I began selling pieces that no longer resonated with me, this led to the opening of Crystal Synergy, my small business that’s now thriving and will celebrate its 2nd anniversary this December. As the founder of Crystal Synergy, I’m most excited about sharing my knowledge and passion for crystals and gemstones with others. I take pride in being transparent about the origins of each stone and hand picking ensuring the best possible quality. Some exciting news is we have decided to take on brand ambassadors to help promote and expand our business. In exchange ambassadors will have an opportunity to make a little pocket change, and win free crystals!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Resilience, creativity, and Passion. Resilience taught me how to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and not as a setback. As well as being able to put myself and my mental health first when needed. My creativity allowed me to surround myself with people who both inspire and push me to be my greatest self. Lastly, my passion and love for what I do has driven me to keep pushing forward even with challenges. A piece of advice I have for you all is when you’re passionate about what you do, do not let that go! It makes staying motivated and focused on your goals so much easier and that my friends is how you prioritize your happiness at the same time.
