We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dom Campbell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dom, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I discovered my purpose through my love for filmmaking and storytelling. It all began during a summer trip when I was 13 years old. During that trip, I had the opportunity to create my very first film. Little did I know that this experience would ignite a passion within me that would shape the course of my life.
From the moment I held the camera in my hands and started crafting a story, I felt an indescribable joy and fulfillment. I realized that this was where my true passion lay – in the art of capturing moments and bringing narratives to life through the lens.
As I embarked on my journey to pursue filmmaking, I faced various challenges and obstacles along the way. However, my unwavering dedication and love for the craft helped me overcome these hurdles and propelled me forward. With each project, I honed my skills, expanded my creativity, and delved deeper into the world of storytelling.
Now, I am proud to say that I am running my own TV/film production company. It is a dream come true. Through my company, I have the incredible opportunity to collaborate with talented individuals, champion meaningful stories, and make a lasting impact in the world of entertainment.
Every day, I wake up excited to embark on new projects and ventures. Being able to do what I love, creating films and captivating audiences, is the fulfillment of my purpose. I am grateful for the journey that led me here, and I am committed to continuing to push boundaries, tell authentic stories, and inspire others through the art of filmmaking.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
At present, my primary focus is centered around building and cultivating the entertainment culture in the Midwest. I am deeply committed to producing high-quality content and continuously seeking the necessary resources to maintain a consistent output. By doing so, I aim to indirectly pioneer an evolution in Columbus, Ohio, and establish it as a thriving hub for the entertainment industry.
Through my efforts, I have been able to create local jobs and opportunities that were previously scarce in this region. Providing such opportunities is instrumental in fostering the growth and development of budding talent who may have otherwise needed to relocate to major cities like Los Angeles, Atlanta, or New York to pursue their aspirations.
By establishing a strong presence and actively contributing to the entertainment landscape in the Midwest, I am opening doors for individuals who possess immense creative potential but may not have had access to the same opportunities. This not only enriches the local industry but also contributes to the overall cultural fabric of the region.
My passion for filmmaking and storytelling goes beyond personal success; it is deeply rooted in a desire to uplift the talents and voices of those in the Midwest. By producing high-quality content and showcasing the unique perspectives and stories of this region, I hope to draw attention to the wealth of talent that exists here.
In addition to creating local job opportunities, I also strive to build collaborative networks and foster partnerships with industry professionals both within and outside the region. This enables cross-pollination of ideas, knowledge sharing, and the establishment of a supportive ecosystem that further nurtures creativity, innovation, and growth.
Through my dedication to building the entertainment culture in the Midwest and continually pushing boundaries, I aspire to inspire future generations of filmmakers and artists to pursue their dreams and make their mark in their own communities. By doing so, I hope to leave a lasting legacy and contribute to the ongoing evolution of the entertainment industry in Columbus, Ohio, and the entire Midwest region.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The first quality is the habit of writing things down and acknowledging the significance of this practice. By documenting my ideas, goals, and strategies, I have been able to bring clarity to my thoughts and hold myself accountable for taking action. Writing things down allows me to organize my thoughts, prioritize my tasks, and track my progress, leading to increased productivity and effectiveness.
The second quality that has been instrumental in my journey is keeping faith. Entrepreneurship is often characterized by uncertainty and setbacks, and it is during these challenging times that maintaining faith becomes crucial. Believing in oneself, the vision, and the ultimate success of the endeavor provides the resilience and determination necessary to overcome obstacles and persevere. Keeping faith helps to cultivate a positive mindset, embrace the journey, and navigate through the inevitable ups and downs that come with entrepreneurship.
Lastly, execution is a quality that has been a game-changer in my journey. While dreams and ideas are essential, it is the ability to take consistent and focused action that turns them into reality. Execution requires discipline, diligence, and a willingness to adapt and learn along the way. Taking decisive steps forward, making strategic decisions, and consistently executing tasks and plans are what ultimately lead to progress and achievement.
My advice to rising entrepreneurs would be twofold. Firstly, never give up. The path of entrepreneurship is filled with challenges and setbacks, but it is through perseverance and resilience that success is achieved. Keep pushing forward, learning from failures, and turning obstacles into opportunities. Remember that every successful entrepreneur has faced setbacks but refused to let them define their journey.
Secondly, find something you love to do. Passion is a powerful driver that fuels motivation and sustains enthusiasm even during the most difficult times. When you are truly passionate about what you do, the challenges become stepping stones rather than roadblocks. Follow your heart, pursue your interests, and align your entrepreneurial endeavors with your passions. This will not only make your journey more fulfilling but also increase your chances of long-term success.

Two books that have had a profound impact on my life and entrepreneurial journey are “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki and “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. These books have provided me with valuable insights, strategies, and mindset shifts that have helped shape my understanding of wealth and success.
On another note, I am thrilled to announce the upcoming release of my own book titled “Stuck in the Grind: Unlocking Lasting Wealth.” Scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2024, this book aims to provide readers with valuable insights, strategies, and practical advice on breaking free from the rat race and unlocking true financial independence. By sharing my own experiences and lessons learned, I hope to inspire and empower individuals to pursue their dreams and build a lasting legacy of wealth.
