Meet Dom Farnan

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dom Farnan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Dom, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I can joke and say my middle name is resilience, I’ve had so many chances to practice resilience. I believe my resilience comes from cultivating a growth mindset and viewing challenges as learning opportunities. This wasn’t always the case. It’s taken me years of intentional work, healing, unlearning, and learning new ways of working through all the things that life throws my way.

Prior to 2020, I lived the life of a perfectionist, high achiever that craved acceptance and validation from others. Burying my feelings inside, focused only on results, accomplishment, and accolades, I traveled a lot and created a facade that everything was great, but it really wasn’t. When the world shut down, and I was unable to travel, shit got real and I had to face myself, and how I felt. I remember waking up one morning and hearing my inner voice just say that it was enough and I had to get to the bottom of this and take drastic action. So that’s what I did. I invested in working with my first coach for life and business, which in hindsight marked the beginning of a very long journey reconnecting with myself.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a multi-passionate leader. I am blessed to be able to do a few different things. I am the Founder of DotConnect, my core business is helping companies hire with intention. We help build teams, companies, and cultures. We also offer a 90 day new hire coaching program called Cultivate 90 Coaching – Grow Your Talent, Nourish Your Team.

If you’re not looking to make a hire, but you are conscious curious and want to work with me as a coach, there are a few ways to do that! One way is an app – self paced, on demand, and combines biometric feedback (HRV) with my conscious leadership coaching. The other is my signature program called: Mirror Method Mentorship: Reflect Inward to Lead Outward. This is a 90 day, group program where we meet weekly and cover a range of topics like: Self-Awareness, setting intentions, building trust, mindfulness, emotional intelligence, ethical decision-making, altruism, empowering leadership, effective feedback, trust building, conflict resolution, leadership sustainability, integration of learnings, and celebration of achievements. The highest level to work with me directly is through 1:1 coaching. I offer a handful of spots for 1:1 clients every year.

Lastly, I host conscious community events at my home: www.atriumonthebrook.com in Central NJ.

I know that my purpose here on earth is to share my story, share lessons, wisdom, and insights I’ve gained throughout my life with the intention of helping others to tap into their own unique essence in life and work. The thing that makes me feel most alive right now is working with teams within companies to help elevate their culture and create high performers.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Self awareness, curiosity, responsibility. If you’re early in your journey, that’s exciting! If you’re open minded and open hearted, you have an opportunity to create a new narrative. I know for me, that meant challenging what I had heard. For the longest time, I believed that I “couldn’t change” because that is what I was told. But the truth is, you can change, if that is what YOU want. No one can change you. No one can do the work for you. You decide and then you get to work. It’s not easy. I say, it’s called “inner work” not “inner party”… so commit to yourself and then get to it. Understanding that only you have the power to create the changes you want to see in your life. Very practically speaking, I read the book “Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself” by Dr. Joe Dispenza as one of the first steps in my journey.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
I’m glad you asked because I’ve been trying to nail down my ideal client for a while, but I haven’t landed on one. The clients that resonate with me tend to see their story in mine. Maybe they feel they are misunderstood by others. Deep down inside, they’re soft but they appear tough to the outside world. Maybe they were told they are “too direct”, “too much”, “too cold” etc, but in reality they’re stuck in past patterns and old stories that have kept them safe. Maybe they’re sick of feeling lonely despite having friends, a career, or family. Maybe they’re ready to be seen, heard, acknowledged, and loved for their true essence. If that resonates with you, then I might align with you.
