Meet Dominique Thomas

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dominique Thomas. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dominique below.

Hi Dominique, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I cannot say there is one event or situation that helped me foster the resiliency that I have now, but my most recent challenge has been my divorce. Over the past year and a half I have been going through divorce proceedings and it has taught me so many things. Through the hurt and the pain, I have come to realize how powerful I actually am. I give all of the credit to God, but there are a few things that I learned along the way.

First, I learned how to control my emotions. I truly believe that your mindset is one of the most important factors in overcoming anything. Every time I went through something that I thought would defeat me, I did my best to change the narrative to a positive outlook and that always got me through.

Secondly, I took care of the bare minimum regarding my health. I ate healthy, I slept when my body needed it, and I worked on my mental and emotional health. I always tell my family, friends, and clients, that when you are going through a challenging time in life, the bare minimum is to take care of your health.

Lastly, I have an amazing support system in my corner. My close friends and family members are always there to remind me who I am and how far I have come. Yes, I tell myself, but sometimes it helps to hear it from someone else. I have people in my corner who keep me down to earth, encourage me through the bad times, and truly celebrate my wins with me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I created Well & Fit Coaching because in the past I worked with private and public companies as a personal trainer and they were all missing one thing. They never focused on the “whole” person. Every position I was put in was primarily focused on sales and I didn’t agree with that. A person’s health and fitness journey is personal to them. I believed that it was time to offer a program where people were seen and heard.

My goal with Well & Fit Coaching is always to move, encourage, and inspire people to live a healthier life. I offer personal training, nutrition coaching, as well as wellness coaching. What makes it special is that I actually get to know you. My program is 3 months long and we talk about everything because honestly, everything is connected. How you sleep, eat, exercise, handle stress, etc., is all tied to your health. We exercise weekly, have wellness check-ins weekly, and I keep track of all your progress with bi-weekly assessments. There is power in the relationships that I have developed. As much as I help my clients, they are doing the same for me in return.

My hope is to expand Well & Fit Coaching all over the country where my impact can reach millions. I’ve been working on a 30-day challenge to offer at the top of the year that will help women in their health and fitness journey. It includes workouts, exercise videos, a meal plan, as well as Olbali nutritional supplements to aid you along your path. I am also in the works of partnering with a wellness center to expand my services in a medically focus environment. 2024 is looking amazing and I am excited to share everything with my audience!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I think the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful to my journey would be discipline, integrity, and an openness to learn. There is a saying that when motivation fails discipline kicks in.

I have found that on my journey to where I am today, I had to do it even when I didn’t feel like doing it. I pressed through and made a way despite being tired, sad, and anxious. I kept going whether I was moving at a slow pace or whether my day was completely booked and felt like I was moving at the speed of light. I have developed a discipline to show up for myself, my children, and my clients.

In addition, I am a strong believer that those who have integrity will excel bounds and leaps further than those who don’t. Business (and life) can be difficult sometimes. We have been told that we have to put our emotions aside and operate in a logical manner, and although at times this may be true, it does not give a view of the whole picture. The quickest way to lose clients is to be a person with no integrity. People like to be honored, celebrated, and treated well. I do my best to treat everyone how I would like to be treated.

Lastly, I continually keep an openness to learning. I don’t claim to know everything, but what I do know I want to continue to build upon that to be a leading expert in my field. I am also aware enough to seek help when I don’t know something. No one gets anywhere on their own, and I am open to feedback and the ways I can become better in all areas of my life.

For folks who are early in their journey, I would suggest reading books, attending conferences/workshops, and consuming podcasts or programming that would help improve on these areas. Get around like-minded people and people who know more than you so you can learn and grow along your journey.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
Honestly, no one person has been the most helpful in helping me become successful. I am a woman of faith, so I give glory to God for helping me through everything in life, but it truly does take a village of people to help me be successful.

My village consists of my parents, sisters, and close friends. It also includes my therapist, my doctor, and my clients. All of these people have given to me unselfishly and have continued to support me through my journey. I invest my time and money into people and organizations that can help me overcome, build, and attain knowledge to keep growing and learning.

I would be dismissed if I didn’t mention the Women of Network community. In the handful of months that I have been a member, I have seen so much growth in my business and in my personal life. It is a community of professional women who genuinely want to see other women succeed and support you to grow and scale your business. In addition, they are all women of faith so it is a win-win situation for me. I appreciate the sisterhood I have gained through them.
