Meet Dominique Treadwell

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dominique Treadwell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Dominique, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

My optimism is rooted in two things: memory and faith.

Memory reminds me that I’ve seen hard things before and made it through every single one of them. I’ve had seasons where I didn’t know the path but I walked it anyway. That gives me a quiet confidence — a knowing that if I’ve survived, grown, softened, and bloomed once, I can do it again.

Faith reminds me that the story is still being written. That I don’t need to see the entire staircase to take the next softened inhale and step. I truly believe that “all things are possible through Christ that strengthens me,” I mean ALL THINGS. I believe in divine timing, alignment, and the way life can surprise you when you are brave enough to stay open.

My optimism isn’t loud. It’s not “everything is perfect.” It’s gentle and grounded. It’s trusting that light always returns, even if slowly. It’s believing that joy is worth pursuing — especially when the world feels heavy.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

’m the founder of Spoonlight Ice Cream, a small-batch, artisan ice cream brand built around the idea that dessert can be more than indulgence — it can be connection. We make bold, flavor-forward ice cream designed to spark delight, curiosity, and conversation. Every flavor has personality. Every pint has a bit of attitude. We say Spoonlight is ice cream that flirts back — because it’s meant to make you feel something, not just taste something.

What’s most exciting for me is watching how ice cream can soften people, even grown folks. When someone takes that first bite and their shoulders drop, their face lights up, and the world feels lighter for a second — that’s the magic. That’s the whole point. Joy is the product.

Our flavors are bold, intentional, and made with A2 dairy, which is easier on the stomach for a lot of people who think they can’t enjoy ice cream anymore. Some of our most-loved flavors are Hot Honey Cornbread and Lavender Honeycomb — they’re playful, nostalgic, and just a little flirty, which really captures the spirit of the brand.

Right now, Spoonlight is in a really exciting season. We’ve been steadily growing through pop-ups, pre-orders, and local collaborations — and we’re preparing to open our first storefront. The vision is a space where people can slow down, savor, connect, and feel held for a moment. A place that feels like joy you can walk into.
At its core, Spoonlight is about reminding people that joy is worth creating — even in the middle of your story, not just at the end of it.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three qualities that have shaped my journey the most are resilience, creativity, and ingenuity.

Resilience has been essential. Entrepreneurship will stretch you — emotionally, financially, spiritually, all of it. There are days when things don’t move as fast as you hoped, people don’t see the vision yet, or life just life’s. Resilience is the quiet voice that says, “Okay, take a breath — but don’t quit.”

Creativity is the lifeblood of Spoonlight. Creativity isn’t always about being artistic — sometimes it’s about being willing to imagine something different than what’s in front of you. It’s allowing play, wonder, and curiosity to stay alive in the process. It’s remembering the “why” even when the “how” is still forming.

Ingenuity is what keeps the dream moving forward. It’s flexibility. It’s improvising when the plan shifts, making what you have work while you’re building what you want, and not overplaying obstacles. Sometimes you’re not supposed to bulldoze through every barrier — sometimes you just need to go around it differently.

And my biggest advice for anyone at the beginning?
Do it.
Do the thing.
Not when you’re fully ready. Not when you’ve perfected the plan. Now.
You learn more in motion than you ever will on paper.
Prepare enough to feel safe. Then move.
The clarity, the confidence, the skill — they come from the doing.
Start small, start messy, start imperfect — but start.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Absolutely. Collaboration is one of my favorite parts of this work. Flavor innovation is richer in community — when people bring their craft, their story, and their creativity to the table, we all get to make something more meaningful.

I’m always excited to connect with:
Crafters & Makers
Artisans
Bakers & Bakeries
Restaurants and cafes
And really, anyone who finds joy in turning ingredients into experience.

Some of our most memorable flavors have come from partnership — it allows us to highlight other creatives, support local businesses, and introduce our community to something new. When we collaborate, everybody wins. We get to uplift each other’s work and bring something beautiful to the people we serve.

If you’re reading this and you feel a spark — let’s talk.
