Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Domonique Zen Hansen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Domonique Zen, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
It’s actually a funny story. Growing up, my mom thought I talked way too much, so she stuck me in theater camp. From there, it was like my life did a complete 180. I became engulfed in it, and as I went through college and started to develop my artistic voice, I realized I wanted to share stories that make people think, provide insight, and offer an outlet for life’s experiences to audiences. I am also deeply into my new spiritual journey, and I want to share stories that enlighten my audiences to opening themselves up to those topics as well. The pursuit of understanding the human condition, both the mundane and the metaphysical, has become my driving force.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a multihyphenate artist, deeply passionate about acting, writing, and directing, with a foundation in formal dance training. Fresh out of The New School – School of Drama, I’ve been navigating the artistic world, bouncing between the vibrant energy of New York and the sun-kissed shores of Florida. Right now, I’m immersed in developing a documentary that honors my first love: dance. Beyond that, I’m the creative force behind Lifeline Movements, a spiritual clothing brand. Our collection is designed to be inclusive, with a t-shirt or piece for everyone, no matter where they stand on the spiritual journey.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Being adaptive, intuitive, and authentic have been the most impactful qualities in my journey.
Here’s some advice for those early in their journey:
* **Adaptability:** The world is constantly changing, so embrace flexibility. View setbacks as learning opportunities and be open to new strategies.
* **Intuition:** Cultivate inner awareness. Practice mindfulness and pay attention to your gut feelings. Distinguish between intuition (peaceful) and anxiety (panic).
* **Authenticity:** Stay true to your values. Know yourself, and don’t be afraid to say no to things that don’t align with your core beliefs, even if it means compromising.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I prioritize grounding techniques. This involves disconnecting from digital distractions like phones and laptops, and reconnecting with the present moment. Simple activities, such as walking barefoot on grass, can be incredibly restorative. I find that stepping outside and appreciating the natural world helps me regain perspective. I also make sure to practice deep breathing exercises, such as inhaling for four counts, holding for two, and exhaling for six. Additionally, techniques like tapping can be very effective in managing overwhelming feelings.
