Meet Don Bosco Laskar Betelgusa

We recently connected with Don Bosco Laskar Betelgusa and have shared our conversation below.

Don Bosco Laskar, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

Born to artist parents, it gave me a place to develop my creative talents. From there I was always optimistic about the talent I had for a career in the arts, I developed this optimism by starting school in the fine arts department and continuing my studies at an art college. From this process, hopes for the future of an artistic career became stronger

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am a visual artist with the concept of affirmation or you could say “painting is my way of hoping for something”. I am always happy when there are exhibitions in my country (Indonesia) or abroad. The journey I go through from 2022 to 2024 is always happy because of my involvement in various exhibitions both in Indonesia and internationally. I’m currently working on a work to exhibit with a gallery from US, Thinkspace project. Apart from that, I also have an art exhibition scheduled in my hometown, Yogyakarta

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the qualities I should have now are discipline, honesty, and perseverance. Apart from that, the skills that exist within me are an added value that allows me to survive in the field of art to this day. Of course, knowledge is also a necessity for an artist to support the concept of his work. As a person who works with skills, in my opinion, the important things that other people must have in order to be successful are discipline, honesty and perseverance in deepening their knowledge.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

Those who have helped me the most in achieving my success to date are of course my parents and family. But on the other hand, the people around me such as partners, friends, even people I don’t know have helped me in their own ways. I always hope that when I always have good intentions, there will be more people who want to help me achieve the success or dreams that I have.
