We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Don Vagabond. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Don below.
Hi Don, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
Growing up in a multicultural household, I learned early on that a strong work ethic was non-negotiable. It was just in the air I breathed—everyone around me was always striving to be the best at whatever they did. That drive to push boundaries stuck with me, and I eventually realized that anything I wanted was achievable if I was willing to put in the work. It’s all about showing up, putting in the effort, and knowing that with the right mindset, you can get where you want to go.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I fell hard for music festivals—there’s just something about that energy that hits different. Each festival opened my eyes to how music brings people together from all over. Like, I was solo-traveling in Berlin when I met one of my best friends, who’s half Belgian, totally by chance. He even let me crash at his aunt’s place a block from Tomorrowland—wild, right? That experience made me love the global vibe of the music scene even more. After Covid, I decided to dive into producing, taking professional classes, finding mentors, and putting in serious hours (and dollars) to get where I want to go. Now, I’m all in, releasing music for the past four months and even locking down a residency at The Venice West, creating with that same worldwide unification energy that inspired me in the first place.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
If I had to pin down the three biggest things that got me here, it’d be endless hard work, consistency, and just refusing to give up. Putting in the hours day after day, even when it felt like no one was listening, is what built the foundation. Consistency kept the momentum going, pushing me to keep creating, keep learning, keep showing up. And not giving up—that’s everything. There were plenty of tough moments, but knowing I had a vision that mattered kept me on track. You can get there too if you believe in yourself and commit to the journey. It’s all about trusting the process and staying true to what drives you.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My parents, sister, and friends have honestly been my biggest support system through all the ups and downs of pursuing music. They’ve always been there to encourage me when things got tough, reminding me why I started in the first place. It’s not easy choosing a path that’s full of challenges and unknowns, but they’ve always believed in me and my vision. They never pressured me to take a safer route; instead, they pushed me to give it my all and stay true to myself. Knowing they’re behind me has been huge—it’s like having a foundation of support that I can lean on no matter what comes my way.
