Meet Donna Fisher

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Donna Fisher . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Donna , so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
Self Care is such a taboo word! I think to truly understand the implications self care can have on your overall well being it takes consistent small decisions over time. Adding these small steps into a daily routine can have profound effects of our mental, physical and spiritual well-being.

There are many forms of self care and finding what is needed to ensure balance, purposefulness and effectiveness can be a  life long journey full of fun exploration!

An evening self care plan for me includes supplements, foam rolling, foot stretches, massage gun, and a bed care routine with tea, stillness. meditation and adequate sleep 7-8 hrs.

Mornings are bright and early to allow for tea time, dog walks, rolling feet out on Naboso sensory ball and making it out the door to teach class, hopefully without rushing!

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
FBH Wellness has been a launching pad for many new ideas, some great and some NOT so great. In this moment I am wildly excited about our SHOPfbh evolving into a non profit entity. It has been a small Wellness Boutique for a couple years and it has been FUN, however not financially fulfilling. I have a plan to use the store as a bi product for the true desire of creating a UIL grant program to help fund hard working collegiate athletes. We have the opportunity for a possible expansion and I would love to create a space to offer our wellness products that serve a greater purpose then the bottom line.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Stay Humble – accept help, learn from others and explore other ways to accomplish a goal

Build a team that have your back – it can not be 100% but you can make small decisions that lead to a strong team

Care – more about others then yourself. your staff knows if you care or not and when push comes to shove if they think you don’t care, they will jump ship! Of course even when you give your all some staff have to move on and that’s ok!

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Life in general is overwhelming honestly, no matter what you do for work or your lifestyle. We push, push, push and then ask ourselves why we are tired, burnt out and irritated most of the time when things do not go our way. It is imperative to learn about yourself, your inner being or core values. This helps navigate your course and when you stay the course it decreases the feeling of being overwhelmed. Learning and leaning into your strength and weaknesses can set a stage for your community around you to do the same. Trust me, you are not the only one overwhelmed and as a leader if you are feeling that way more then likely, so is your team. Try taking a step back, look at other angles, get sound advice and clear your head in nature then re- visit the issue, person or circumstance from fresh eyes, ears and heart.
